Lol
Can you define what you mean by currently âwinningâ and what you think an ultimate Russian victory will look like?
Theyâre winning so much that Russian Craigslist now consists of mostly (very desperate) recruitment ads for military service. Theyâre trying to entice semi-literate white trash with the promise of the equivalent of 300-400 bucks (a thousand upfront) if they sign a contract (signing a contract makes you a kontraktnik, a professional soldier and theyâre banking that the target audience is too dumb to understand that) to allegedly âtrain for 30 days on field maneuversâ. Payout is of course contingent on surviving âmaneuversâ.

What is Zelenskyâs media strategy though? One day heâs calling for talks, then itâs a no-fly zone (no concern for the implications of that apparently), and today itâs: âRussia must negotiate or this could lead to WW3.â What? Youâve been trying to get a full on NATO-Russia conflict going since day one.
Another thing, how many professional soldiers are left in the Ukrainian armed forces? Iâm hearing a lot about endless volunteers for Ukraine and thousands of dead Russians, but havenât seen a number for Ukrainian military casualties.
Is a strategy really necessary?
Im sure one is necessary for Putin, because he has a hard time with honesty, but like, if you arenât him, then is one necessary?
Probably not I guess, not much to say if NATO refuses to get involved.
Even if they did, a media âmanagement strategyâ is only required if youâre actively trying to manipulate it, isnt it?
I mean the current tactic Zalensky uses involves asking for help and showing the devastation that has been brought by the Russian army.
Pretty simple.
How does Russia refusing to negotiate lead to WW3 though? Thatâs the latest thing Zelensky said. That statement seems to assume that Russia will move on to take the Baltics next, and then weâll be in all out war between NATO and Russia. I think I agree with him now by the way. If the Putin regime survives, the Baltics are next. Thatâs when we find out if the US is really ready to go to war over Lithuania, or if itâs a bluff.
You even acknowledge in the first quoted sentence, its not just about any one single country.
If I understand it right, Lithuania was like a gem of the USSR, and Putin would really appreciate having it back, and by forming new alliances through Turkey, Syria, Iran, and the Stans- Russias ambitions for control over the worlds energy production and infrastructure lie more to its south than to the west.
That would give Russia access to all of the sea ways for transportation, and energy resources through central and western Asia.
One of the better ways to look at their ambitions and strategy would be to look at the oil and shale gas basins/formations.
Like this:
You just cant deal with those fuckers though. Like if they dont have all of the marbles, they have to beat up your neighbor and take theirs.
No win/win agreements with them.
According to Peter Zeihan, these are the dream borders apparently:
Notice they would have to take part of Poland and Romania for thatâŠ
But if what Iâm reading on the news (and that Kamil Galeev twitter) is true, the state security apparatus and demoralized Russian soldiers are dying like flies, so how could they take the Baltic states? Unless they occupy eastern Ukraine, hold it, fight off the insurgency, shift their entire economy towards China (which will buy everything on the cheap), and overcome all the problems western sanctions is giving them in the tech sector - how could they possibly maintain a fighting force capable of further expansion? Something is not adding up for me when people are simultaneously saying Russia is losing and is about to colllapse - but they are still planning on taking more countries.
It seems more likely that Russia will turn into something like North Korea, from reading the news narratives anyway. Chinaâs attack dog in Europe, wonât that be grand ![]()
Not all plans are good plans.
Like, when I was a kid and wanted to be a millionaire (like Mr. Howe, from gilligans island!).
I was like âYeah, ill just grow up and get a million dollars! Then Ill be a millionaire!â.
Not the most thorough or well thought plan.
Thereâs a bit of a difference there between a bad plan and the willful suicide of a nation. lol
Is it a possibility that Putin has a terminal illness with limited time left, and this is a desperation legacy play to be the Vlad The Great who reunited the Russian peoples/empire?
I mean sure, why not. But all that âgreat uniterâ stuff means he bought his own propaganda about Ukraine falling in a week and being welcomed as liberators. So what now, is the question. How much damage can he do before his regime falls? (If it does)
Yep. That fits pretty well with control of waterways and transportation infrastructure.
Just have to get rid of those pesky and uncooperative countries that stand between them.
It has been speculated since the invasion first started that this is the case. Some have said his facial swelling âmoon faceâ often caused by Prednisone (non-AAS steroid) indicates he could have colon, stomach or prostate cancer and he simply wants to go out as âVlad the Reuniterâ
It also means they assume the US will renege on all its commitments in Europe and not defend a single one of those countries. If they are truly planning to take all that territory, it can only happen if the US doesnât fight.
I never said the former. And if you want me to believe the same people who lied about âRussian collusion hoaxâ, Covid, the Hunter Biden laptop, Joe Rogan, Afghanistan, the Border Crisis, Inflation, etc., etc. etc., you have to be nuts. How many times does someone get to lie to you before you stop trusting them? Unfortunately, the government and the media have absolutely no credibility at the moment. Theyâve lied about almost everything.
The numbers I have heard and I researched it as much as I could range from 500 to 28,000. So I supposed the Russian army casualty numbers are somewhere in between. I would say the correct answer is we donât know, we have no idea.
The evidence I am looking for is an official third party count from somebody reputable who has no dog in the fight. Since thatâs not likely to happen anytime soon and since thatâs apparntly not going to happen anytime soon, you cannot base any conclusions of information we do not have. But it certainly does not seem to indicate âtens of thousandsâ of Russian casualties.
There is? Really? Overwhelming evidence? What sort of evidence is that? Hey from what I can tell, the Ukrainian Army, with lots of help from the west, is doing an admirable job defending their territory, but they are losing and will likely lose over all. The question is, how many lives is it worth to put up a good fight, only to lose?
Obviously they are buying time, banking on western intervention, which eventually they will get, but the below, does not appear to be a victorious Ukraine as the map continues to get redder.
For what itâs worth, the former head of the armed forces in my country says that it will take Russia some time to move reinforcements from other parts of the country to the warzones in Ukraine, but thereâs nothing to suggest they arenât willing and able to keep up the artillery barrage in the meantime. And eventually, that the West will have to decide if itâs willing to stand by and see Ukraine be turned into dust. He doesnât seem to have any doubt that will be the outcome, unless we join the fight for real.
