Russian Military Buildup Outside Ukraine

Imagine being Putin reading this headline
Russian Man Chains Himself To McDonald’s To Stop It Closing (msn.com)

The irony in this situation is unbelievable. Putin is probably punching the air right now.

EDIT: The dude who chained himself to the McDonalds is the size of the average American Walmart Rascal Rider, which makes the story so much more fun.

There is footage of that vehicle column being attacked but tbh, they don’t need to attack it. They have been attacking the refueling trucks which makes the convoy a massive cost with no benefit. The soldiers will find it demoralising to be sat in stationary targets day after day in freezing temperatures, running out of food and water.

China’s markets taking a hit.

Also covid may be a factor

Wow!

That just blindsided me like a snowball to the face in hell!

Aparently the other one is suspected of being in on it, which disappoints Putin, as she was one of his favorites newscasters.

Another great thread from Galeev (click show replies because it’s really long). I’ve observed some of those things he mentions in Russia, but could not piece them together and explain the underlying (twisted) rationale.

Here’s the convoy explanation:

So, if the invasion is really going so poorly and their going to be running out of supplies within the next 10 days or so (as I saw some US general say), how long until the Russians carpet bombs Kiev or drops a low yield nuke? Accepting defeat seems unlikely.

I also saw something like this(I think it was the same thing, but I didn’t pay attention to the guy’s position). I don’t understand why the U.S. is supposed to help Ukraine with Russia, when Russia supposedly doesn’t have the supplies to last a month. And Ukraine is beating the hell out of Russia. And Russian soldiers are just standing there taking verbal abuse from Ukrainian grandmas, which shows how low their morale is. But Russians are targeting civilians. Nothing I hear about this makes any sense.

You’ve obviously never had a Ukranian grandma comming at you all babushkad up and pissed because you busted up her tomatoes.

Seems to me that the merchants of death stopped even trying to make sense a long time ago. Ukraine is just the latest playground I suppose. You don’t hear much about millions of people starving under sanctions in Afghanistan right now, you don’t hear much about Yemen or Somalia or what have you. As far as humanitarian disasters go, Ukraine doesn’t rate very high. But of course it’s happening to white people now, isn’t it…

Thats just what SJWs say when they dont realize how many millions of people have ukranian heritage and are only a generation or two from the old country.

I’m just saying that of course western media and people in Europe are going to be way more horrified at this war between people who look just like us, than we are about wars in the “usual” places. “Blonde hair, blue eyes” I’ve seen mentioned quite a few times. Don’t have to be a SJW to see a clear bias in people.

Yeah.

I dont care. It can be mentioned until the cows come home.

I’d rather see an aknowledgement of the facts, like we did upthread within the first 50 posts.

Nice try though.

The coverage and reaction to this war (in Northern Europe where I live), is night and day compared to any other conflict I have witnessed in my lifetime. The reaction to refugees likewise. It is what it is.

So you’re nowhere near Yemen, and very likely have very little population that is from or has ties to Yemen.

But you are close enough to catch an “errant missile” or two, or may be the next target of the next invasion.

You’re right. It Is what it is.

Its SJWs saying “My pet cause that I use for virtue signaling is getting drowned out by something else that I dont think is as important.”.

Blahblahblah, something about darfur…

Trying to gauge the temperature here; you actually believe people care more because ukrainians look more like white people?

I’m commenting on the hypocrisy of people here in Europe, who are always happy to turn a blind eye to the suffering of others, as long as it’s at a comfortable distance. Now it’s hitting close to home, and people are suddenly shocked. Why are they shocked? “Those people are European, like us!” Well Olaf, maybe you should have given a fuck about the world you live in a little earlier. Now it’s on your doorstep. Yes I believe sharing skin color is a large factor in how much empathy we have for Ukrainians vs Syrians or Africans. “These people are not Syrian refugees, they are white and Christian like us” <— actual news reporter on TV.

I don’t have much of a dog in the social justice fight, or whatever is going on in the US in that regard. We have very little racial tension where I live, and barely any immigration. There’s more of it in the cities I guess, but I’m basically a hillbilly. lol

PS: I realize we will be talking past each other about this, as racial connotations means very little to me in daily life, while it may mean a lot more in a diverse country like the US.

I guess this is not too dissimilar to the US, but replace “comfortable distance” with “social/political narrative” and the statement stands quite accurate.
