Running Shoes!

Ok Guys I need some suggestions for running shoes particularily for sprinting. I have an old pair of running Shoes that i’ve been using and they have been giving me ankle problems. They are too small and don’t give me much support. I need some suggestions on running shoes that will keep my ankles secure as long as im sprinting with proper form.

I highly recommend New Balance shoes. I own an old pair of New Balance 762, and it’s my favorite. I wish I can find another new pair since mine’s getting a bit too old for all-out sprinting.

Another pair I own and I also like is Aasics GT 2070. A bit heavier than New Balance 762, but great stability and cushioning. I'm very picky about my running shoes because my feet are slightly flat and need a lot of stability and support to alleviate my knee pain. But I find both pairs very good. They're also not that expensive.

What I suggest you do is to buy a pair or two and try them on for about a week at your gym treadmill. As long as you return clean, resaleable shoes, they'll let you return them.

Also try www.runnersworld.com for any running shoes reviews/articles. Good luck!

Wow stella, Thanks a lot for the site and info. That site gave me a lot of good tips. I basically made the decision to get the Adidas calibrate since i have very pronated feet and I believe this is where the majority of my ankle problems are coming from. Thanks a lot!

You’re very welcome! I hope you find shoes that you like. Good shoes can make a HUGE difference in your running. Your ankle problems, etc. should get better when you get a good pair of shoes. BTW – if your pain’s chronic, etc., you should check it out just to make sure that it’s not something serious.

You just happened to enter into my world. I am an old sprinter of 7 years competetive, and still do them for the ol’ health. I also work for the largest sports and fitness company in the world. I will not mention the name, though it is obvious. My suggestion does not reflect the view of the company. Now that is out of the way. The ankle problems are not always due to the shoes. If you are like me, I have weak ankles. There is a way that you can loosen your ankles before running. You raise up like you are doing a calf raise, then rotate your ankle clockwise and counter clockwise. Don’t try to do both ankles at the same time. That would be funny to watch though. As for a shoe, I personally wear track spikes and a the NIKE Air Max. It just depends on the type of the training. When I am just getting back into the swing of things, I wear my air max or the air tailwind. These shoes are great because of the support that they give. I also wear them when I am doing wind sprints. But for all out, I wear spikes. To recommend shoes, I would say the Air Tailwind, The Air Max, The Ghost Racer, Zoom citizen, Shox. For spikes you can go with the super fly or something. Just make sure you get one for sprinting. If you do decide to go with NIKE, find what you want and get them from a factory store. Better deals. One last thing. Make sure you arestriking right with your feet. That makes a big difference.

Hey Sak I just got home I ended up buying the Nike Air Max, and I never read your post before I went. So I guess they must be really good shoes since we both like them. I went to the place and I tested out a lot of them, Sprinted a bit outside, and the Nike Air Max gave me really good support. The guy said the big guys usually like these the best heh.

SAK: “I also work for the largest sports and fitness company in the world.” Coca-cola ? They seem to sponsor the most anyway…
