Run Test Preparation

Alright. I have to take a running test next sunday (july 20th), for football. I have to run 12 110 yard sprints all in 18 seconds or less. My question is:
How do i prepare? As in, the night before, the morning of, and how long i should be out of bed before running. What should i eat the night before and the morning of etc.?
Thanks!

I think it’s a stupid conditioning test, they could have chosen better. But never mind it has to be done.

If it was me, I’d just go about my usual business.

Morning- carbs for breakfast.
I’d also make sure I was out of bed for 2 and a half, to 3 hours before the runs. (I’ve heard it said it takes the CNS a while to get firing)

The night before- I think I’d just eat something like my regular meal, although a lot of people will say stock up on carbs.

And then, when you are there, you want some water or an energy drink, can’t forget that!

Good luck.

I’d agree that 110 yard sprints aren’t necessarily a good evaluation of football conditioning. Multiple 40 yard times would be a lot more relevant.

I’d also second the view that you’d want to be up for a few hours beforehand to wake up the CNS. This is largely why I don’t do workouts in the morning.

Until recently I’ve been quite inconsistent with my squats. This week I made a MASSIVE improvement, I looked at what was the difference between training days.

This time I’d been up for a good few hours, the days I’ve failed, I have woke up, got food and then not long after set of to the gym.

So I do think the CNS has to have time.

Alright, thanks alot!! Carbs and get up at least 3 hours before!
