'Rumors of My Demise are Greatly Exagerated'

LS - Every time I start to get the back to feel better, I either do something stupid and have to fix it again, or I do something stupid and have to fix it again. Redundant? Hardly…I’m just an idiot sometimes. Sticking to rehabs, deads and leg machines. Hopefully, that will cure my stupidity. Ego check done!

OG - Thanks. I’m beginning to be less impressed with people bench, even though we are all pretty good at it, for old guys, and more impressed with overhead work. Doesn’t matter how it gets there, pushpress, strict mils, jerks, whatevery…just get it overhead. They seem to compliment each other well…at least for me, anyways. Looking at moving back to standing mils soon. Have to work ‘going out to the gym’ into my schedule. Most of the resolutionists should be about done now that Feb is half over! Cant do standing mils in my basement

I think I’m gonna change to board presses after this cycle for a while. Start with a 3 and go down to a 1…just for variety

That a lot of bench volume and some good lift’in.
Never tried board presses. Will be interesting to follow along with you.

Low back tight and stiff but getting there. I move back into deads this weekend I hope, and maybe some machine work for my legs. Getting older can be a real PAIN! Oh yea, it was Fat Tuesday. The only time I eat donuts all year. Had 3.5 paczukis . What a rush!!!

Looks solid per usual, Rug…Good luck with the deads this weekend!

Good looking Milies, Rug.

That is definitely a lot of bench and millies. Strong nench and the millies are looking real good as well.

Thanks LS. I figure since I can’t really kill myself with low back work right now, I may as well make up for it, sorta  Right above the tail bone, it feels like a hyperextension. I can loosen it up, make it not hurt so bad, but it just doesn’t seem to want to fade off into the sunset yet. To top it off, of course, when I do work, which ain’t much right now, I do commercial flooring…lots of lifting, bending and kneeling…so I have to balance out exactly what I want to achieve without screwing up my work-ability.

I’m a desk jockey and can’t imagine doing a heavy workout and then going out and laying floor all day. That’s some good conditioning. Being desk bound means the hips and core get bound up over the years as well. I admire guys that get out every day and put their body to use. Its the way it should be.

Rug- That’s a nice bench!

10 @ 245 is awesome, especially after all those triples. Nice work.

x2 That’s a lot of reps by itself. But after the triples, that’s just awesome.

Well, I went to the gym and did leg work. We’ll leave it at that since there is really no point in posting non squat workouts. However, no back pain…so that is a plus. On a side note, I did see 3 guys actually squatting, for real. To parallel, and proper spotting. I was in shock to say the least  I almost went over and shook their hands.

LS, OG…thanks. So far so good staying heavy and doing de work on military day. We’ll see the results hopefully next cycle. I’m gonna stick strictly to the 531 script next cycle, min extra work, then test the bench and mil. My deads will have to wait for a few for above mentioned reasons.

Sounds like a plan. Looking forward to the numbers going up.
And I am right there with you on the deads.

You’ve been workin’ it hard rug. I found that pushing the deads and squats did hold back the upperbody stuff. It looks like you have a good plan.

I may not have posted my leg workout cuz of lack of squats, but my legs are still killin my and its Tues. Must have done something useful
