Damn son, that is some good repping on the Krocs!!
Nice work JW…
I always hate how business types ruin businesses
so much of how the television production works is little tiny tiny vendors
all getting stepped on.

Steve, I know. I’m a disappointment. Don’t give up on me!

Just busting your balls. I think the higher rep training is something everyone could use in their training to shake things up and add some hypertrophy. And it burns like a bitch.
Krocs are looking great! Are you noticing the increased grip strength in other exercises?
And Steve is right. It burns a lot…mainly the lungs ![]()
Dateline Thursday, 4:09am Bastardly squat day.
Box squat: 135x10, 185x5, 205x5, 4x225x5
Jump squat 3x45x8
single leg split squat: 3x30x6
Elliptical machine: 10 minutes
Uninspired training this morning. I managed to move my squat weight up. I’m also balance challenged doing the spilt squat thingy. I have to get back on the cardio program. I just hate cardio so damn much.
The young’uns 12th B-day is just around the corner, that should be interesting. We are going to get her a new bike. So its off to the bike store in the down low this weekend.
I’m trying not to let the pressure from work effect my home life and training. That is proving harder to do than one would think. I’m hammering away but I don’t expect the progress is going to come since I am not mentally prepared as well. I will admit by the time I leave the gym I feel pretty decent about having gone. Sometimes its a struggle to mentally get TO the gym.
JW’s morning thought: Where there’s a will there are five hundred relatives.
Good squatting there JW hopefully things will turn around bank wise and its a credit to you that you are pushing through all the BS. Keep your head up.
Very few things are more exciting than a new bike. Good work getting to the gym and getting it done.
Nice work - training under stress, is hard.
how are you liking the box squats?
a bike is a cool gift.
KMC, the box squats are cool. I know now I’m getting my depth.
Thanks Jack and Joe. I dont think the banks are going to get right any time soon. I’m so tired of the crap!
Dateline: Saturday 5:17 am Bastardly bench day with delusions of grandeur
Bench press: barx20, 135x10, 170x10, 215x8, 250x5, 280x2, 280x3 (PR whoredom on reps) 300x1, 315xmiss, 250x5
DB incline press 2x50x20 super set with elevated push ups: 14, 12
Flat fly: 35x12, 2x45x8 super set with more elevated push ups : 12, 9, 8
Dips: BWx 8, BWx6, BWx4 super set with Rev grip JM press in the power rack 2x135x8, 135x5
Elliptical machine: 13 minutes
I had delusions of grandeur. I missed the first try t 280 x3. I only wanted to make up my one rep on the send set. It went up so easy I hammered out 3 reps. 300 went up easy. So I said, “Self lets try 315.” Self said, “Wilson, it ain’t happening today.” My drop back set was heavy as hell. To punish myself I did all the damn super sets. Got a helluva pump anyways.
Finally signs of Spring. Olivia the Osprey came to check out her summer home. The maple trees are beginning to bud. The angle of the sun is changing towards it’s summer dangle. I can only hope!
JW’s morning thought in the afternoon: "Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, ‘Where have I gone wrong?’ Then a voice says to me, “This is going to take more than one night.”
If you’re gonna ramp up to a top weight maybe the last 3 sets to the top should sharp, crisp singles. Spare some energy for the main event and increase one’s chance of success. I think there’s a good chance you’d’ve gotten that 315. Then you drop back and do some rep sets. You spent yourself pounding out that second set of 280. mebbe like 215x3 250x2 280x1 300x1 315x1 then 280x3 250x5
Way to keep hittin it. I’m seeing signs of spring, too, and the wife’s startin to make noises about tuning some mulch into the garden soil. She’d have me plantin mid December if she could. You’re workouts are doing great in spite of all the goin ons in your life.
Nice work. 300, yet again. DCA hit it on the head…save some umph. 'Course, sounds like you hadn’t planned on the attempt until 300 flew up. It’s coming!
Looking Spring-like around here as well. I cleared out the garden plot today. The ground is so saturated that it is easy to dig. Of course, that means the dirt is heavy as heck.
Thanks Tony. Next time I’ll plan it like that. You know what the say, Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. I didnt plan!
Harry and Skip, Spring can’t come too soon after this winter! Thanks for the encouragement.
Dateline Sunday: 4:20 am Bastardly back training
20 rep squat warm up: 115x20
Kroc rows: 115x12, 2x115x10
Lat pull down: 3x150x8
Face pull: 3x120x10
Rev fly: 3x60x8
Shrug in ground base: 3x350x8
I wanted something to start me sweating. What better than a 20 rep set of squats? I think I’ll continue with them for a while. Weights were heavy this morning. I really muddled through. I’m thinking I may need to change to a high rep day on my back work as well. Or should I venture to the “dark side”? I’ll see how it goes.
The wife and I got caught up in the girl drama last night, with the daughter, her “friends”, and text messages. Looks like year 12 will be “fun”!
JW’s morning thought: You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance
" Obi-Wan once thought as you do. You don’t know the power of the Dark Side, I must obey my master."
DV
Nice work. Krocs continue to look strong. Strong face pulls as well.
My daughter is a pain at 8. I figure that one of us won’t be here to celebrate her 12th birthday.

11 and 12 is when the girl power games start. Who’s in, who’s out, who’s talking or not talking to who, the fine details of ostracism or inclusion. The clothes, the boys, the makeup, and music. The lure and frustration of popularity or the lack of it. The manipulation of influence. The lying starts about now too.
I warned my son about this stuff (having lived through it with my sister) and he’s confirming it to me as his formerly tomboy female friends basically go crazy.
God be with you.
20 reps of anything is impressive. Strong facepulls and rev flyes, too.
Nice work Jw…
I like the 20 rep squats that is a good warmup.
some of the Joe DeFranco stuff I am doing is a bit of darkside-
being swole on high reps feels good
all my neices/nephews are 11 to 16 lots of teen agnst and drama.
Tony, I have a brother, I never knew about girl drama until mine turned 9.
Thanks Harry. Hopefully one day I can grow up to be a short you!
KMC, I have been reading DeFranco, and then there is the dark evil of 5-3-1…
Dateline: Tuesday 4:18 am Bastardly high rep bench training
Squat warm up: 115x20
Bench Press: barx20, 135x20, 170x17, 170x13, 170x10
Incline DB press: 3x55x18
Cable Xover: 3x40x20
JM press in the Smith: 3x135x20
Session 2 of the high rep day. I guess it went OK. The bench presses wore me out quick. I don’t think I got the reps like i did last Tuesday. I left with a good pump. Tomorrow is heavy back day. I’ll see how this bastardization goes along.
I was hoping to get back into the cardio/ complex swing Monday. My Dad needed a driver to the state capital to meet with the Governor. That shot my plan all to hell! It was kind of cool to see the inter workings of these types of meetings. It also makes me just as cynical about government waste and missteps. I wish I was a good typist, then I could get on a soap box.
JW’s morning thought: I used to work in a helium factory but i quit. I refused to be talked to in that tone
I’m digging the high reps. You must get a huge pump. I may have to do a workout or two with them. Why did you start this high rep training? Wanted a change?
