Rumblin', Stumblin', Bumblin' to 50

Thanks Harry. I didn’t consider military service because I didn’t think I was tough enough to endure it. In retrospect, I probably would have learned leadership and team building skills and figured out a better way out of this mess. My weight training really helps with the stress, but then the stress will effect my motivation. This morning I just didn’t want to get up. I know I’m going to have to push myself though those moments.

Tony, I really need you to script my meetings. You are priceless, and quite a wordsmith!

Skip, I don’t know what PR’s are going to come of these guys. But like I said above, sometimes this whole situation just brings me down. I started back training to bring something in my life that I could control. At times that control seems to slip away.

My Dad had a call from the MFDC (Damn Consultant, use your imagination as to what MF stands for). The DC said he didn’t think that my brother and I were committed to changing the model of the company and we didn’t want to do what he and the bank suggested. I was floored. In the past 2 years we have changed our product mix, our marketing efforts and our markets. We have done things unheard of in our company’s history. Yesterday I wanted to utter some really ugly words to some people involved with this whole ordeal. Then I realized our fate is in the hands of someone that doesn’t get us, or see what we are doing. We don’t fit his vision… Thats a very sobering thought.

I’m going to lift tomorrow!

Ain’t that the truth… and these guys can do legally what should be illegal

PRs be damned. At this point, I think your lifting allows you an avenue to burn off the stress and negative energy that would otherwise prompt you to do something that would land you in prison. Of course, if you decide to go ahead and help clean up the gene pool, just remember, they do provide free weights in many prisons!

I am sorry that you guys are having to deal with this. Just makes me cringe to see good folks going through shit like this when so many of the assholes who are responsible for it are just carrying on as though nothing has happened.

Dateline Saturday, 4:20 am Bastard bench day

Bench press: barx20, 135x12, 175x10, 210x8, 240x6, 260x2, 260x1, 210x8
Incline DB press: 2x60x12
Pec Deck: 2x135x10, 135x8 supersetted with push ups: 10, 6,6
JM press in the Smith: 135x10, 185x8, 205x5
OH triceps ext, with rope: 3x140x10
Rolling db triceps press: 3x40x8

I may have bitten off too much with this 320lb bench progression. I mis-loaded the bar with 260, should have been 270, then couldn’t get the 4 reps. Shot some vid, not sure if I’m going to post or not. Added in the rolling triceps pressing thingy. I’m not sure if they do anything for me. I should have gotten in some cardio torture. I will start mack doing the cardio on Monday. We are finally betting oysters from the OBX, they are good and salty, Couple them with some cold beer and my diet is suffering.

We gave in to the daughter today. She wants to wear eyeliner. Her mom is taking her to the make up place for a ‘lesson’. I couldn’t wait for her to grow up, now I wish she was 5 again…

JW’s morning thought: The old system of having a baby was much better than the new system, the old system being characterized by the fact that the man didn’t have to watch.

Nah…you haven’t bitten off too much. There is just a lot going on, outside of the iron, that is affecting your lifting. Keep at it. It’ll come full circle.

Stay Strong Brutha.
Its tough all over right now and us old dudes gotta set the bar.

Dateline Sunday 4:20 am Bastardly back day

OHP 3x95x10 supersetted with OHP lockouts 3x95x6
Kroc row: 4x115x6
Lat pull down: 3x150x8
Face pull: 3x110x8
Rear delt raise: 3x55x8
Hise shrug: 3x315x10

Nothing remarkable to report. The OHP lockouts were done to failure, immediately after the OHP. I think I saw this at Staley training a while back. 115# with the Krocs is about all my left hand can stand, cheating and all.

Going to the beach to see my parents. The daughter wants to play the flute for her grandmother. If the sun comes out it will be a nice day!

JW’s morning thought: I’d rather have a President who screwed women than one who screwed the country. (Shirley MacLaine, on JFK)

Nice work. I noticed that the weight on the krocs was creeping up.

Hope y’all have a great day at the beach.

Nice back day- lots of good upper back work.

I just met a fellow from North Carolina- Nice guy.
said he lived right on the coast
He was on a shoot my wife did- she shot Carl Edwards for her gig
and this guy moves his ( and others) cars.

I ended up having to help him get the car onto a hi-low trailer
( every time I show up at one of my wife shoots I get stuck working)

Dateline, Tuesday 4:20 am Bastard bench day

Bench press: barx20, 135x12, 170x10, 210x8, 240x6, 4x270x1
Incline DB: 2x55x15
Pec deck 2x145x10 supersetted with push ups, 10,8
OH triceps ext. with rope: 2x145x15

the strong assed talking banker worked in with me on the benches. He talks and rests way too much between sets. I had to speed through the bottom end of my training to get home and dress. Got big meetings with 2 sets of new bankers. Should be a “fun” day.

JW’s morning thought: He who shits in the road will find flies on his return.

Nice work. I hope the meetings go well.

Great training going on over here. When are we gonna see some deadlifting and more squating? You need 5/3/1. Come to the darkside. I am your father.

I have to start back squatting. I guess I’ll start working them in next week. It’s been hard to get motivated for them of late.

I thought you were Vanessa?

Dateline Wednesday 6:45pm, bastardly back training

Kroc rows: 3x115x6, 115x5
OHP: 95x10, 2x115x8 super setted with OHP lockouts 95x8, 2x115x3
Hammer low: 3x90x8
Lat pull down: 3x150x8
Face pull: 3x115x8
Reverse fly: 3x55x8
Hise shrugs: 3x315x10

I went in for a rare afternoon workout. I had a rough nights sleep so I couldn’t make it in the morning. Now I remember why I enjoy training in the morning. There isn’t a lot of standing and talking. Seems every time i wanted a dumbbell or a machine folks were there gabbing. Lots of strong folks around… visiting.

We spent the last 2 days in dog and pony shows for new bankers. Hopefully we have some leads. We threw hooks in the water, none have been thrown back yet. I guess that is hopeful.

JW’s fishing related thought: Give a man a fish, feed him for a meal. Teach a man to fish and he’ll squander all his money on a bass boat

For the right price I could be Vanessa…

You were just starting to get your groove with the squats then they were gone. Were they uncomfortable to the back or shoulders??

HAHA the right price… No, I just got a little frustrated about my depth issues. I was thinking this morning I needed to get back squatting. I think I’m going to 5x5 them for a while. My grip issues really limit my deads. I have some carpal tunnel issues from work and then i messed up my thumbs playing football years ago. I dont think a big dead lift is in my future.

Your Krock rows are really coming around. Nice work, J-W.

My Dad’s in the boat business. We are heading off to the Seattle Boat Show today to check it out. I hope more than a few people show up and squander all their money. The industry needs it, I heard more than 50% (in terms of volume) of the Pac NW dealers went under last year.

I know what you mean Jack. We build a lot of boats in this area, Grady-White, Albemarle, Regulator, much less the off shore boats. These guys are hurting like we in the forest products are. Lots of damn good boat builders out of work here. Hope the show is good for your Dad
