Bastardly weak bench day, dateline Saturday 4:50 am
Bench press: barx20, 135x12, 2x185x10, 190x8, 2x210x6, 190x8
Incline db press: 2x55x12
Floor press: 2x225x4, 2x225x2
Pec deck: 130x10, 130x8, 130x5
Push up: 10, 7,3
OHP barbell press: 2x75x10, 75x6
OHP barbell partials 2x75x6, 75x2
OH triceps ext. 3x130x10
Triceps push downs: 3x 130x6
Dips: 3xBWx 3
Starting week 2 of my cold. Training was labored today. I didn’t feel good about any of the work. 225 was heavy as crap on the floor presses. The pec deck/ push up super set was labored. I did the OHP and triceps as super sets as well. Dips didn’t hurt my shoulder much. May try to work them back in. Back day tomorrow!
JW’s rock paper scissors morning thought: I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there’s no fucking way Paper can beat Rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around Rock leaving it immobile? Why the hell can’t paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can’t paper do this to people? Why isn’t notebook paper constantly suffocating students while they take notes in class? I’ll tell you why: because paper can’t beat anybody; a rock would tear that shit up in 2 seconds. When I play rock/paper/scissors, I always choose rock. Then when somebody claims to beat me with their paper I can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, “Oh shit, I’m sorry. I thought paper would protect you, you asshole!”
I hate it when a cold doesn’t know when it is time to leave! Great job working through it.
Uh…really long, but accurate, quote. That one yours?

I stole it. I’m not that damn smart.
Back and shoulders, Bastardly late, dateline Sunday, 5:40 am
Kroc rows: 4x110x7
Hammer low row: 90x8, 100x8, 2x110x8
Lat pull down 4x135x8
Face pulls: 3x100x10
Rear Delt raise: 3x55x8
Hise shrugs: 3x315x12
Still feeling the effects of the cold that never ends. I don’t think there is anything really remarkable to report. Just tried to lift as heavy as I could between the nose blowing and the coughing. I don’t know if I am going to train tomorrow. We have 2 days of meetings with fancy dancy bank business consultants. Seems they are going to tell us what we have been doing wrong for the past couple of years. You don’t reckon it as anything to do with the current state of the economy?
JW’s morning thought on my beer drinking: Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, “It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.”
Great job keeping at it. Lifting while congested always sucks!
How are you doing your rear delt raises? Bench? Standing? DBs? Cables? To the side or towards the front?
Give me time. I’ll come up with more questions… ![]()
I was struck by your unselfish commitment to helping the brewery workers stay employed. Well done. Just looking over your workouts and you have sure come a long way. Good damn progress.

I do them bent over with DB’s. They seem to help keep my shoulder healthy.
Well, those are some stout rear delt raises. Must be from all those years of using a crosscut saw, when you were a youngun…
Looking strong Wilson. Hows the grip? The kroc rows must be helping.
Being a Star Trek fan I thought you should start each thread something like this:

Never used a cross cut saw. Hell I never saw one up close and personal until my '30s. Now a 90lb Poulan is a different story!

HAHA I’m a Star Trek fan too. But since I’m not much of a techie kind of guy, I think I’ll try the Walter Cronkite style opening…

Really? My image of you is destroyed…lol. I had the displeasure of using a crosscut on a couple of 3’ diameter logs, when I was younger. My Dad used to make tables and clocks from cross sections, left in the shape of the trunk and coated in some sort of clear coat polymer.
That was a workout! Especially for an 8 year old. Not to mention, as an 8 year old, I wasn’t as physically capable as my Dad. I caught my unfair share of grief ![]()
Dateline Tuesday 4:22 am, Bastard bench day
Bench press: barx20, 135x12, 2x185x10, 190x8, 2x210x6, 190x8
Incline DB Press: 3x55x12
Triceps push down straight bar: 3x130x12
Ran out of gas, so I went home and got ready for a meeting with bank consultants.
Dateline Wed. 4:07 am Back and shoulders, the bastard way
OHP 75x10, 2x95x10
OHP partials: 75x8, 2x85x6
Kroc rows: 3x110x6
Lat pull down: 3x150x8
Rear delt raise: 3x55x8
I’m trying to work the OHP’s back in after a year of fighting shoulder issues. It felt good lifting shit over my head again, I tread forward cautiously. I have to get back squatting, maybe I can drag my ass out of bed in the morning.
Went to the Doc yesterday for a follow up for my blood pressure. He has reduced my dosage which is good. My weight is up a bit, so when I shake this damn cold I am going to hit diet and cardio pretty hard for a bit.
We met with some fancy dancy consultants hired by the bank. They studied our numbers and reports for a week and a half and had all the answers. Never mind they still haven’t set foot in our sawmills or even understand the whole process of sawmills. They want us to stop sawing non profitable low grade lumber. That’s like telling a slaughterhouse operator to slaughter cattle, but don’t develop any hides, hooves or bones. Since it only took them a week and a half to figure it all out, and we have been doing it for only 60 years or so, I guess that speaks to our intelligence…
JW’s thought for the day: Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
What are you supposed to do with the rest of the lumber? Throw it away? How much would it cost to dispose of? I don’t know shit about sawmills, but that sounds stupid.

HAHA Jack, this guy suggested we put the fiber worth $40/ unit, when we were already putting it in a $200/ unit product. Break even was about $350/ unit but the fiber will not meet the grade spec.
The thing that pissed me off royally is the bastard told my Dad in a conversation that my brother and I were not willing to change our views and change the model of the company… JEEZH all we have been doing is foster change, in production, marketing, etc… Then he tried to shill his services on us. I couldnt post what I want to post here, the mods would pull it. Needless to say I was pissed
Damned bankers will suck the life out of you. Funny, or sad, how people with no friggin’ clue think they have all the answers. Hell, if they were right just half the time, we would have a utopia.
Just envision them during the next workout. Should be worth a great PR!

I’m going to steal this and post it on my Facebook page.
I’ve got to confess I’ve never had to deal with anything like you’re going through. That shit must cause some real stress. Hope the lifting is helping alleviate some of it. Feel free to vent whenever you need to. Hell, in comparison the military was easy. We got to shoot the enemy.
