Rumblin', Stumblin', Bumblin' to 50

Nice work. If you were doing the rack pulls with a double overhand grip, I have the same issues. I can hold 315# for 3, maybe 4, reps, but then it gives.

How is the shoulder feeling?

Thanks LS. I was using alternating grip on the pulls. I dont know why I just was… Shoulder is doing a lot better. I think between the dislocates and YTWL I balanced the little muscles in my shoulder.

Good to hear that about your shoulder. Just keep up with the shoulder prehab stuff cause all the stupid computer work will screw it up again. I know I run a constant battle keeping mine healthy.

I use an alternating grip on rack pulls as well. 'Bout the only thing I use the overhand for are shrugs (and I use straps at 315) and RDLs, but I haven’t been going over 225 on those.

Glad to hear that the shoulder is doing better. That is just one of those parts that affects everything you do.

Sunday morning workout

Bench press: Barx20, 135x10, 205x6, 255x1, 205x6, 255x1, 205x6, 255x1, 2x225x4
Incline db press: 50x15, 55x12, 60x9
Flat straight arm fly: 3x30x10
Hammer wide chest: 90x10, 3x140x6
rev grip incline CGP in the Smith: 185x2, 3x135x6
OH tri ext supersetted with tri push down: 3x80x failure
Reverse fly: 3x50x10

I walked away disappointed with today’s workout. My first time benching at the new place, and I just wasn’t comfy with the bar and the bench. Weight was heavy as hell. I should have gone with my first instinct and set up in the power rack. Hammer wide chest was painful to my front delts. Maybe I should drop back the weights and rep out on that machine, if I even continue further on it. Buy the time I was at the smith, my upper body was wore slam out.

So in hindsight I guess it wasn’t such a bad workout. I have some fine tuning to do. This may prove to be fun!

JW’s morning question: Can you still say “Put it where the sun don’t shine” on a nude beach?

x2. One good long video gaming session and I’m back where I started…

I think the equipment feeling off is to be expected. We all have what we are used to and anything new, even if better, just doesn’t seem right. Kind of like when the wife gets a new hair-do. It may be the best ever, but it takes getting used to.

I agree. Doesn’t look like a bad workout at all. And they will continue to get better!

Nice lifting JW.

congrats on the new gym. I usually do the complexes right in front of the squat rack, same place I deadlift. there is just enough room for the bar and my flailing…

Monday morning conditioning

Rubber band dislocates: 10 reps
YTWL 10 lbs
Waterbury complex: 5 sets
Treadmill walk: 20 minutes

Ever had your ass kicked by a 30 lb set of dumbbells? Ever had your ass kicked by a TWENTY lb set??? Well JW did this morning… and it is a humbling experience. I thought i was being safe picking up the 30’s after 2 sets i was huffing and puffing and crawling towards the 20’s for the last 3 sets. I could probably set up a Tortureplex course in this gym, but I’m liking the Waterbury butt busting. I’m sore as hell from the weekend training. That’s good. I was getting complacent at the old place. Funny how one can enjoy a case of DOMS.

JW’s Thought: If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown too?

Good to read you’re still beating yourself up with the complexes. I’ve also thought it weird that I’m happy when I have DOMS. What complex are you doing? I’m going to do stiff legged dead,BB row, hang clean, front squat into press, jump squat and GM 5 reps each,3-4 rounds tonight.

nice work .

Waterbury has one called bloody barbel and bloody dumbell I think I used 20’s on that one.
It was sad.

Only if it’s the captain of the team.

I did reverse lunges, RDL, front squat, MP, and bent row. I didnt do the floor press becasue i didnt want to press much. That kicked my ass royally!

Tuesday morning workout

Squats, (in a power rack! WOO HOO!!) 95x20, 135x10, 205x5, 4x225x5
Hack Squat sled: 4x275x6
Leg curls: 4x90x12

Left the gym all rubbery legged and now my glutes hurt. The wife has been calling me a pain in the ass of late… I guess this is the pain she feels in her ass when she refers to me…I think I’ll be working around 225 for a while in the squat rack. that makes me feel so inadequate…

JW’s morning question: if the Professor can make a radio out of coconut, why canâ??t he fix the damn hole in the Skipper’s boat?

j-willy, there ain’t nothin’ inadequate about 225#, especially with making the transition from the smith version.
I, personally, like the rubbery legs and fatigued feeling. It confirms that I did something…or that I am a pansy

I was thinking the same thing. You like the rack better then the smith??

I’ve been longing for the rack. It’s good to really squatting again!

JW, sometime set the pins in the rack real high and do 1/4 squats. You can use a ton of weight. Makes you feel like Meat and Pete for a little while.

Lol…amen to that. Except, even on 1/4 squats, I can’t do what they do for fulls.
When you drop the weight back down for the real squats, though, they sure feel lighter.
