Sunday morning workout

Incline DB press: 3x50x15
Flat bench fly: 3x35x8
JM press in the Smith: 185x8, 2x185x6
Pec Deck supersetted with push ups: 3x90x15, 6 push-ups
Reverse Flys 3x50x8

For some silly reason I opened my grip up about the width of my hand. Felt different, my shoulders popped and crackled and the weight didn’t seem to drive off my chest. I’m not sure what it means, I don’t know if I’ll continue to experiment with my grip. Blasted through the rest of the training, I was really uninspired this morning. Didn’t sleep well last night. That may be the big contributing factor. Back in the saddle tomorrow.

JW’s morning question: How do you throw away a garbage can? garbage [/quote]

I can attest that even the slightest grip change can have a noticeable impact. The verdict is still out as to whether or not it will affect my max, but just moving in 1" on each side took a world of stress off my shoulder. I think because it made the tuck easier.

Nice work, j-willy. Man, you and jjack get up early for a Sunday!

I’m up and off to the gym everymorning at 4:30 am, LS. It just works better for me

Let me guess, you stay up until 11 or 12 as well, right?
During the week, if I roll over and see 4:30, I know I have 1 - 1 1/2 hours left to sleep…and I am always in bed by 10:30 at the latest. On the weekends, I don’t worry about it until 8:00. I TRY to get 7 hours a night.

HAHAHA LS, I’d like to be in bed by 9:30. Most of the time its between 10:00 or 10:30.

Apparenty not Seekonk. I was told Acajou is French for Mahogany. I understand the Gabonese forest are filled with this specie. Since all imported logs have to clear the Lacy Act test, we couldnt begin to saw and endangered specie

“JW’s morning question: How can there be a Miss Universe when earth is the only planet represented?”
Miss U, 2009, she looks out of this world to me.
Good workouts you’re getting in there, JW.
Remember Mathineer, does the pope crap in the woods and make a sound if nobody’s listening?

That’s not bad. I have a couple of co-workers who run on 4 1/2 - 5 hours of sleep a night. I would say I don’t know how they do it, but since the most activity they get is typing and mousing, I guess there isn’t a lot to recover from. I can do it for a couple of days, but then I need some real sleep.

Given that you lift as much as you do, and put yourself through complex hell, you need as much as you can get!

Monday morning workout

Rubber band dislocates: 15 reps
YTWL: 5x8lbs
Barbell tortureplex: 5 sets
Treadmill interval: 10 minutes

I got lazy for my treadmill interval. On the ride home all I did was regret not finishing out. I have been slacking on the intervals lately. I have to get back on my game. Everyone knows how I HATE cardio. Still its a necessary evil, so I’d better dance with the devil.

Spent yesterday with the wife’s brother and Things 1 and 2. They are 100% hellions! My daughter had to leave and run down the street to see one of her little friends. The cat is down to her 4th life and the dog hid with the cat… Which is remarkable because the dog and cat are mortal enemies. Then again the cat is Alpha, he has the dog by 15 lbs. However when Things 1 and 2 visit even mortal enemies become allies…

JW’s Morning thought: Would a fly without wings be called a walk?

Tuesday Morning workout

Dateline: New gym

Squats IN A POWER RACK!! WOO-HOO!!: 2x135x12, 185x6x, 4x205x6
Hack Squat: 4x245x6
Leg curl: 3x90x10
Some abs stuff

Well, the plunge is made. I started at the new gym this morning, with squat day. I guess all my squats were CBPR’s ( come back PR’s) since this is the first time I really squatted. The Smith really didn’t do much for my technique. I was tired, fatigued, and my form broke down with 205. While it is humbling, I’m looking forward to building my numbers. Added the hack squats in this morning. It’s been 27 years or so since I last did them.I really am excited about fine tuning leg day.

I never have enjoyed dead lifting, but I’m going to start pulling soon. Rack pulls are in the plan for back day. With all the Hammer Strength equipment, heavy dumbbells, and the barbells; I think I can build a good strong back and a powerful chest. On my ride home I could feel my training outlook was renewed and invigorated. I am excited. I have to get to work restructuring my training.

JW’s morning question: If one doctor doctors another doctor does the doctor who doctors the doctor doctor the doctor the way the doctor he is doctoring doctors? Or does the doctor doctor the way the doctor who doctors doctors? and what will Nancy Pelosi think of all the doctoring?

Congratulations! I was hoping you would take the plunge soon. You’ll get the feel for everything in no time. I can’t wait to watch your numbers climb!

Good question…but now I need a couple of Alleve.

JW, most of us are still trying to perfect our squats and deads. Just keep doing them. Sounds like the new gym is going to work out well for you.

New gym, new beginning. Your leg strength is there, just a matter of getting the technique back. And your question of the day hurt my head.

Thanks for the kind words, Eco, Hel and LS. Sorry about the question of the day. It made my head hurt too!

Thursday morning workout

Squats: 2x135x10, 185x5, 4x205x6
Hack squats: 4x245x6
Leg curls: 4x90x6
Some more abs stuff

Back to the new gym this morning. As you can see I worked on my squatting. Still trying to get the feel of real weight across my shoulders. This is really getting to be good fun!

I had a meeting of business owners yesterday in Raleigh, which meant no complexes for me. I have to admit, I really missed them yesterday morning. I was hoping to get home in time enough to get a quick afternoon workout in. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

Looks like we are in for a dreary 4 days or so here in eastern NC. I guess Fall is fast upon us.

JW’s morning question: If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress? (yes I know its a repeat, but today this question fits my mood)

Friday morning workout

Rubber band dislocates
YTWL
JW’s tortureplex: 5 sets
Treadmill interval: 12 minutes

I could only muster 5 sets of complexes today. For some reason, grinding them out was hard this morning. Plus while the new gym is a lifter’s dream, it’s not the best facility for barbell complexes. Still the move is well worth the investment.

It’s never mentioned in the rhyme, but the weasel had banana-flavored cocaine sprinkled all over it…

hey congrats on the new Gym…

Nice work on the squats- dont worry about the numbers- they will go up quickly

That makes perfect sense to me

Saturday morning workout
Rubber band dislocates
YTWL
OHP: barx10, 85x10, 4x95x6
Reverse grip bent row: 135x10, 4x185x6
Seated cable row: 3x135x10
Lat pull downs: 4x135x8
Hammer low row: 4x120x10
Rack pulls from mid calf: 135x10, 2x225x4, 275x3, 275x2

I brought back OHP’s, paying extra attention to my form. I’m going to take it easy and hopefully not screw up the shoulder. It’s been a year and a half since i did a seated cable row. I think that will stay in for a while. Love the Hammer low rows. Chest day will be interesting from now on as well. Added in the rack pulls. Its funny, even years ago i never did these. Sure I did snatch pulls and stuff during my foray into the Olympic lifts in college. I just never thought about lover back work in a systemic way. I did these from mid calf height (I guess you can read that, duh) I have grip issues with 275 lbs. This is really going to be a work in progress.

All in all a good morning
