I understand that feeling. I was raised in a family of bird and waterfowl hunters. My graddaddy would always say there is no sport in deer hunting. at least that bird had a chance to out fly his shooting… But Granddaddy liked hunting Red Heads, the dumbest duck in the world… The ones that didnt get shot would come back again and again… Which is probably why they are damn near extinct!![/quote]
Lol…amen. Actually, some of my fondest memories are duck and dove hunting, over Christmas vacation, as I grew up. We would hunt duck right at sunrise, then dove during the day, only to hit the duck one last time as the sun went down. It was a lot of fun, just being out in the middle of nowhere with the family. I really, really, really regret that my family is no so scattered and that I am not passing things like that along. Once we get past the “Santa” years, I foresee some big family Christmases.
Interestingly enough, my Dad is heading up to my brother’s, weekend after next, for the opening of duck season, in Illinois. I was supposed to go, but the delay in opening the new hospital winged that. Things keep getting in the way, but that has got to stop. Dad is getting older. Fortunately, though, since he only has 19 years on me, he is only 59.
Squats in the Smith: 2x135x20, 205x12, 225x8, 2x245x5
Floor wipers: 3x10
Decline leg raises: 3 sets of 20
treadmill walk: 10 minutes
The squats were tough. I kept raising my right heel once I got to 225. that pissed me off so I decided to stop after my second set of 245. Various abs work and a treadmill walk finished me off.Its good to be back in the gym again. I like this type of work rather than maintenance crap I do on the road. I guess I feel a sense of accomplishment even with the limits of this current gym.
Busy as hell spinning our wheels in eastern NC. Seems like it’s one fire after another down here. I guess its better than standing around doing nothing. Still work makes me feel like a manic depressive at times… unbelievable highs and cavernous lows. We can never find stability it seems. I guess this is truly the new- new normal.
JW’s morning observation: When you don’t know what you are doing, do it neatly.
JW, next time you squat put a 10 or 25 plate under your toes/front part of your feet. That’ll keep the heel down. Sometimes when I deadlift or do cleans(start position) I purposely keep my toes raised so I stay on the heels. I hope you start getting a lot more highs at work then lows (maybe just start getting high at work).

Thanks for the advice Eco. Sometimes I wish I could get high… I hate being a responsible adult at times.
Catchin up with you here. Just skimmed the posts but got the gist of them. When work gets me down I love to get high smokin dove and masterbate in the woods while watching Daffy Duck do Bambi, too. Wait, maybe I better reread the posts.
Seriously though, I think one of the reasons I like competing in the things I do is cause I get to act like a kid. Hard to be too adult when throwing rocks and things around. Hope the work enviroment improves and the new gym works for you.
LS, go to your room. I’m almost as old as your father.

Lol…yeah, and your still significantly stronger than me. For that matter, my Dad is still stronger than me. My only consolation is, even though he can out max me, is that he would pull every muscle in his body while doing so
Between my working out and his getting older (without working out) I am catching him though.
I’m going to switch my complexes. These Tumminello complexes are wrecking havoc on my shoulders. I think I’ll go back to JW’s tortureplex routine on conditioning day. Guess I’m going to sign up at the new gym tonight. I NEED to get started with a new program.
DANGER WILL ROBINSON* DANGER* It seems if getting more and more micromanaged by my Dad and brother of late. Every time I try to be innovative I get pulled back into the “old normal” box. Go to China and market different, get second guessed. Buy partially manufactured from others and figure costs and work on marginal rates, get shot down, Work a whole new manufacturing cost structure and get slapped back to a financial perspective.
Try to schedule fu*king mandated maintenance and then have to slide a whole down time schedule for one person’s order for some cabinet grade wood… OK that person is my mother, but you get the drift… Anyway I’m through bitching, now I’m going to breathe in a paper bag for a while…
JW’s question of the day: If you mated a bull dog and a shitsu, would it be called a bullshit?
j-willy, are you the older or younger brother?
As you well know, folks get conservative when they are stressed. They’ll stick with what they know, even if another approach might work better. It’s the “might” that gets them.

LS, its a LLOONNG story. I’m the oldest but my brother is the heir to the throne. My Dad felt it was best for our succession plan. Thats not a big deal in the big picture. Our management styles are completely different. Thats the real stumbling block.
Squat in the Smith: 2x135x20, 205x10, 225x5, 4x225x5
Goblet Squat: 3x60x10
Bunch of abs crap
Another boring Smith Squat day. Worked on my depth. Did a lot better job keeping my heels down. I didn’t get a chance to go sign up at the new place. Have to pick the daughter up from school this afternoon. SSSSOOO if she isn’t too much of a “I wanna go home and Facebook” girl I may get to town.
JW’s morning question: Why does the freeway lane you change to always end up being the slowest and who is the first car in line that’s causing everyone to stop?
I had to move back to the tried and true tortureplex. The Tumminello Complex was just too much overhead work for my gimpy ass shoulders. So I switched to my pull centric complex. Maybe I will try some other movement later. After 5 sets I was toast. The treadmill was TOUGH!
We are working through a major crisis at JW’s house. The daughter removed the earrings from her newly (well 4 months now) pierced ears. Now she cant get anything back in them. It’s a crisis because she has the really cool bat and pumpkin ones she wants to wear for Halloween. Daddy can’t help because he doesn’t have earrings and they are not a boy thing… Should be fun this weekend…
JW’s morning question: If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
Rubber band dislocates: 15 reps
YTWL: 8 lbs, 8 reps each
T-bar rows: 3x135x8
Lat pull downs: 3x130x12
Upside down push up things: 4xBWx8
Chest supported rows: 3x165x8
Treadmill interval: 20 Minutes
Tried to push a little harder this morning. Had hoped I was getting to the new gym to sign up but couldn’t get away in time. Seems like life is really getting in the way of me re-directing my training. Oh well, I’ll get there sooner or later. Until then, I’ll keep puttering along.
JW’s morning question: How can there be a Miss Universe when earth is the only planet represented?
Bench Press: barx20, 135x20, 225x5, 4x245x4
Incline DB press: 3x50x15
Flat bench fly: 3x35x8
JM press in the Smith: 185x8, 2x185x6
Pec Deck supersetted with push ups: 3x90x15, 6 push-ups
Reverse Flys 3x50x8
For some silly reason I opened my grip up about the width of my hand. Felt different, my shoulders popped and crackled and the weight didn’t seem to drive off my chest. I’m not sure what it means, I don’t know if I’ll continue to experiment with my grip. Blasted through the rest of the training, I was really uninspired this morning. Didn’t sleep well last night. That may be the big contributing factor. Back in the saddle tomorrow.
