I went by the local gun shop yesterday and checked out the Ruger. Fits my hand much better and I liked the feel. Had the instant buyers virus and almost succumbed. Stood strong thou, mainly because their ammo was priced at 49.95, damn. I buy most of my ammo from midwayusa.com and they are listing at 43.95. Damn, again.
Yeah, 17 bucks or so per magazine is a bit steep.

I always thought the Machete recommendation was a sign that Max has never done any physical labor. Machetes stick. I remember when we had the thread about Zombies on this forum a few decades ago people thought I was silly for recommending .22 long rifle.
Nah, I’m with you. I like the Ruger Silent-SR (integrally suppressed barrel). You know, for those times when you’re trapped in a building but can post-up on top to clear a path in the hoard. Assuming you’re dealing with the slow, shuffling undead, of course.
I would suggest a test this morning for any new arrivals:

You don’t want it too thick tho or it would get stuck all the time. My proposition is a tomahawk. Sharp, durable, double down as a tool much better compared to machete. Win-win
IMO, that is an ideal zombie hatchet (because of the spike). The spike on the end could pierce the skull. I guess I might increase the spike length about an inch or two just to be sure I’d get the brain.
On my list as a Terminal List / Jack Carr fan. But $800+? Ouch. Beautiful though.
All the gear from those books is some pretty high end stuff. The “combat flathead” from the later ones is like $300, for a screwdriver lol.
800 for an axe is waaaaaay too much Even thought it looks really cool
Yep, you are correct and way outside my budget.
Just go with 9MM or 45ACP - something subsonic with a newer advanced suppressor.
My 9MM or 45ACP about all you hear is the bolt or slide racking even with normal velocity rounds. Decibel level is 110-125ish. I think just the slide actuating is around 90ish iirc.
Subsonic is preferred for sure, but they are so much more expensive.
I’ve seen a few lately on youtube that are spooky quiet.
More “would love to have, but $$$…” .
The wait time is what is so shitty imo.
The Deadair cans are amazing. So is the Omega 36M.
Lots of good ones out there now.
Meanwhile, Im going in the opposite direction.
A supersonic air rifle in .177, which can be dieseled from 1200fps. to about 1800 with a couple drops of 3 in 1 oil. ![]()
But you can’t beat the cost of ammo!
It is an impressive round. I have almost bought multiple 5.7’s multiple times, but I just don’t want ANOTHER caliber to keep up with honestly.
I’m mostly content with 9mm, but would like something in either 10mm, or .45 Super for hunting.
