Rugby Inseason Training

for conditioning, there is nothing that compares to sprinting, long far, downhill uphill, before pushups after pushups, with little rest

You have to be realistic on positional requirements, there is a need for a fitness base, strength and endurance, body type and areas that the individual has to work at to better his game. The average play is around 40 seconds between breakdowns, so aiming for an interval time around that would be a good idea, but depending on position and overall conditioning it needs to be varied.

You are right on the money. Hands down this is the best conditioning. Plus rugby has lots of running in it so it makes for a good carry over. Add in some strength training and you are set.
