Routine for Girlfriend

My girlfriend asked the other day, if she could start working out with me. Of course, I said she could… I want to see her hot bod in action… Anyways, I am currently lifting HIT style alone in my basement. I have dumbells, barbells, and a few benches. I also have a powerrack(for dips and chins), and a treadmill. My current routine is a 3 day split. M-W-F. M - Chest + Tris, W - Biceps + Back, F - Abs, Legs, and Shoulders. All workouts are lifting heavy to failure. My girlfriend would rather drop bf%, instead of putting on muscle. Can she train the same way that I am with higher reps(say 8 -12) to achieve her goals.(diet aside of course). Thanks!!

How do you go to absolute failure while working out alone?

First of all, it’s not a question of gender but a question of experience. If she is a newbie and you’re not, I would say the amount of reps, sets as well as poundages will be very different in the beginning.

AND, women don't need to perform higher reps as men to achieve what is similar goals. AND, she will "put on muscle" when weight training. However, that muscle will increase her metabolism and allow her to burn that BF a tad easier. THIS is what the so-called experts call "toning".

Your gf can and most likely should learn the basics of weight training. Such as bench, squats and deads - these will be the foundation of her future weight training routines. Have her read "How to Build a T-Vixen" as well as the "Beginners Blast Off Program". AND The Diet Manifesto.

I’m sure if her bod is that hot everyone else at the gym will enjoy seeing her workout too!LOL

If you’re talking “absolute” failure (which I didn’t see in the original post), then you’re right, it’s virtually impossible to do alone. However, that is NOT what HIT is about. It’s not too difficult to train to concentric failure alone. I do it quite often. Use a cage.
