Ok so I turned showtime back on so I can record this fight. I am going to be out of town so probably won’t be able to catch it live. Does anybody else have interest in this fight?
I am really pulling for Rousey but I think this fight is going to go longer that her others, Kaufman is not going to be there to play. Thoughts, predictions…
I’m interested in how Kaufman handles this. It’s pretty obvious what she needs to do, stay on the outside and keep the ultra-judoka at bay with jabs and low kicks. If she does end up on the floor, she needs to keep tight. Getting an armbar, even if you’re Ronda Rousey, is as much your opponent giving it, as you taking it.
I have Rousey. She’s just on another level as an athlete. Her only test in Strikeforce is Cyborg, and perhaps that other chick who’s name escapes me.
Rousey acts like she enjoys fighting, maybe nothing about it irks her.
I just saw a video of Cristian Santos saying she thinks Ronda is hiding down at 135lbs to not face her. If ronda just about cleaned out her division, and had to drop weight in the first place, maybe she ought to go up and do it.
I fucking hate that mentality… she doesn’t have to do shit. Pressure from the public to inconveniently move around in weight just to appease them all is bullshit. That’s what makes the BJ Penns walk out tail between their legs. Succumbing to that kind of pressure is fucked, just to please the public.
She doesn’t have to do shit to mess up that pretty face as she has more avenues of employment and ability than just her in cage fighting.
She’s pretty, smart enough, is a good coach by what her team mates say and has true driven athletic desire. No reason to destroy all that just to make a fucking higher weight class and be trampled by out of her league competition.
Santos should find a dildo big enough to munch on because she’s lacking quite a bit of love lately.
Can’t blame Santos. There’s no one for her to fight. Literally. No names, no money. Lady’s gotta eat too since her looks and charm won’t be paying the bills.

She is trying to stay relevent. I doubt anyone is gonna take her serious at this point. She got caught juicing and needs to stay in the fight worlds eyes. Rousey is everywhere right now so why not talk shit about her and see if she will respond and keep you in the spotlight.
Its leaching off of others people have been doing it since the start of time.
I agree with the last two posts and I agree with everything Humble wrote that I actually understood.
Regarding the fight; Ronda’s going to win but Kaufman is a little hell-cat and she’s going to make Ronda know she was in a fight. Regardless of how long this fight lasts, Ronda’s going to feel it a lot more afterward than she did after the Tate fight.
I dont see Ronda getting beat up here. Another armbar victory. Her grappling is better than most women I have seen and she seems to enjoy hurting other girls.
The ability to hurt others is something I look for in fighters. That noncaring way that they can snap an arm and just shrug and move on. Alot of people struggle with that, Ronda seems to love it.

I agree she’s going to win but she IS going to get beat up in the process. Kauffman is a vicious hitter and she has very strong legs with a low center of gravity. While Ronda’s trying to get this chick down on the mat she’s going to be getting pummeled. Great thing is, we’ll find out soon.
Nice to see Ronda’s awesome ehem…cough… athletic condition. Far out girl has a marketable body!
Keep watching and the video will change to post weigh in interviews and I like her witty comments.
Chad Waterbury gets a mention too being her strength coach and nutrition coach.
Nice to see Chad’s gone full circle and turned to cleaner eating, less eating and less supplements.
I said it years ago and I’ll keep saying it, fighters need less food not more.
The market has flooded athletes minds with gluttonous bullshit.
Can’t wait to see limbs flying back to Sarah’s corner!
That’s my girl. Damn she is a beast. She was not kidding and I think she perfectly bullied Sarah before and during the fight. Sarah went in scared shitless and shocked as Ronda pressed forward, only enough to take her to her world.
Glad she was smart enough to tap when needed.
I think she will surprise all as she manhandles cyborg too. Cyborg will try and come forward, Ronda will use her momentum against her, launch her like a rag doll and rip off an arm. Mark my words!

I don’t know about this. Her style is so “vintage Chute Box” and they have done very well against Judoka/grapplers in the past. On the other hand Santos keeps a pretty high and narrow base when she clinches, and if Carano could take her down than Rousy damn sure should be able.
I go back and forth in my mind about the fight being Silva vs Yoshida/ Shogun vs Nakumura or if it will go as you say. I don’t think Rousey has the hands or chin to try to imitate Dan Henderson’s tactics against Silva or Shogun.
The fight between Rousey and Cyborg would be fantastic for MMA, and certainly woman’s MMA if it happens. That I am sure. Both fighters are high level athletes who have trained as such for a long, long time, and they are in a field where that cannot be said about many competitors.

wow. well, is it safe to say it is not hype now? is she the goods or WHAT?[/quote]
It’s more about the lack of depth and quality in women’s mma than anything else.

No. She is an Olympic Level athlete. Think about that for a moment before you disregard all the other women in MMA. Olympic Level. Top Three. Bronze. Elite of the Elite. And in Judo! The strength, speed and anticipation of moves that requires is mind blowing.
Yep…she is an athlete of highest caliber. Let’s face it…that is like 1% of women’s mma. So there is huge gap with Rousey at the top of that 1% as of now. Which leads me to wanting to see a match between Rousey and Sara McMann. Two Olympic high caliber athletes …in the same weight class

So you prove my point. In men’s mma an O level Judoka may do well but he won’t dominate like she has done. In fact, GOLD Medal winning men have done mma and actually looked mediocre (Yoshida, Nastula) to bad (Ishii). Gold medal wrestler Karam Gaber was KOed by a mediocre mma fighter. The point being that a high level female athlete can go from Judo, wrestling or whatever to mma and be dominant but in men’s mma that is not enough anymore.
