I miss the Diesel Weasel! He ended up fixing his form and becoming a decent powerlifter, and has fallen off the earth a bit, but for a long time he was just the poster boy of effort over technique. Had a presence on here even.

I saw his vids in the early days of internet videos. He was always the example of what not to do. He had a little bio that popped up when I searched for that. It said he reached elite status.

He’d be a good guy for McGill to study to see if he destroyed his spine or if he was some sort of anomaly.

What McGill says is that it largely depends on the structure of your spine. Typically, taller and thinner lifters have spines that can take more shear force and withstand loaded flexion while the short stocky types are able to take more compressive force.

I feel like that’s how they stay so injury free in terms of lumbar issues. They train the weakest part harder in the way of rounding to lift everything awkward to the point to where they’re strong. I dunno man, at some point you gotta stop worrying so much and just lift it. If you get hurt, you get hurt. You can wait her learn from your fuck up, or keep lifting in the same manner and get fucked up again. Massive downside to the internet imo. Nobody just goes out and tries shit anymore.

That is fucked up and you are doing it wrong. There is no excuse for why you can’t brace except that either you don’t know how to or just don’t want to.

Ive watched Chad Wesley smiths and Brian Alsruhes bracing videos and they all say to do it like that. Pushing the air in your belly in all directions like ur pregnant.

Are you bracing or just pushing air? Look up Chris Duffin’s video “bracing is not breathing”.

Im sorry but between hearing 3+ world class level strength athletes saying how to do it i dont wanna hear something completely different from another world class athlete,this shit just gets confusing. How do i decide if i should trust chris duffin or chad welsey smith or brian alsruhe or mark bell etc.

I want advices from top lifters and ive gotten it. You claimed my bracing was probably wrong and when i asked you to provide info why it is wrong you just tell me to go watch a youtube video. Even if chriss duffin says something completely different from what im doing 2 other elite lifters and coaches have already said i should do what im already doing,so why would i rather trust chris duffin? Youre asking me to blindly listen to your fav pick.

It sounds like what Chris Duffin is saying doesn’t actually contradict what you’ve already heard/read. Duffin is saying that taking in big air is not, on its own, sufficient for proper bracing, that there’s more to it than just that. I don’t think Alsruhe or Smith would disagree with that sentiment.

EDIT: also, why are you posting on a thread asking questions, and then telling people you don’t want to hear opinions that diverge from what you’ve already heard? That sounds pretty silly to me.

And thats exactly what chad and brian have sad. I didnt say chris was contradicting them,i said the fact that he send me chrises video to solve my problem is pointless because in both scenarios even if chriss agrees or contradicts both times that wont have any impact or solve anything for my “problem”. Simply put that video wouldnt contribute much.

You don’t even know what you are talking about. You heard about one cue but that is only part of the picture. There is already a video explaining this in depth and it was made by someone with more knowledge and experience than myself so I don’t see why I should explain anything, especially considering that you don’t want to listen anyway. It sounds like you are looking for a shoulder to cry on more than anything.

Remember there was some idiot posting about weight loss and you said that you weren’t going to waste your time with beginners anymore? I think we should just cut this guy off and let him figure it out himself, I don’t have patience for this.
