I recently finished GVT 2000 on a 4 week program. As you all know, this is a high volume program. I want to begin OVT this week. I have responded well in the past to this program. My question is, since OVT is also high volume, should I try something else? Granted, OVT is heavy weights with a totally different rep scheme, weight scheme, and rest periods. Opinons, suggestions?
Loki, you have a world of options:
OVT, ABBH-ABBH2-QD-Singles,Westside,Ian King’s workouts, EDT etc.
Have a good time !
Luca
Thanks for the opinions Luca, but do you think that going from one volume program to another would be less productive than going to a low volume-heavy weight program? Basically I am wanting my next 12 weeks to be the 8 weeks of OVT then 4 weeks of ABBH.
hey man,
personally i would take a whole week off to let your body recover. then i would do a program that is not a taxing volume wise. maybe ABBH or a modified Westside. just my two cents.
Loki, I agree with Trailer36. It is possible that going on too much with a high volume program, your body may adapt. If I’m not wrong CW suggested to use OVT after his ABBH, ABBH2, QD, Singles.
Loki,
Definately do a low volume high intensity routine for a while to give your muscles a bit of a break from a high volume workout. Two high volume programs in a row is asking for trouble.

I agree. CW just posted a low volume strength program:
“Strength-Focused Mesocycle”
Never use two volume routines in a row … never… always alternate between high volume (accumulation) and lower volume/higher intensity intensification. Cycles of 3-4 weeks are best.
