Ronnie Coleman was at my gym a couple days ago. I had never seen a “real” bodybuilder before and I was totally blown away. He said he weighed 320 and he was ripped. His workout was pretty simple he did 4 sets of bench, incline, and decline each for 10 to 12 reps at 405 and few sets of cable press downs. I don’t follow professional bodybuilding but it was a very awe inspiring experience. I just wish I had asked for some cycle advice:)
Cycle advice from Ronnie Coleman? Here’s pretty much what you’d hear:
5 grams of Test per week
2 times as much of anything else that the other pros are using, "just in case".
You'd get better cycle advice from this site.
sure coleman uses a lot, but so does every other pro. just because hes the man right now doesnt mean he uses twice as much as everyone else. theres probably more drugs on the USA or National stage than on the Mr Olympia stage.
I’ve always been curious to know if these guys use proper form and tempo. From what you’ve seen what would you say?
I’ve seen a few professional and several amateur bodybuilders lift before. Nothing special. The one thing I noticed is that rest periods were relatively short. Form, TUT, exercises, etc. is another issue.
i work out in arlington and he’s been to my gym a few times and i also agree that its very motivating to see him train, he just does all these huge lifts like its nothing, i dunno its just awesome to watch
BOP- I would say he used a somewhat limited range of movement, he didn’t come close to locking out any of his lifts. He didn’t seem to worry about tempo much either.
Did he keep yelling out “Yeaahh Buddy - Light Weight!!!” before every set as he did in his video? When watching his workout video I wondered how anybody could work out with him incessantly yelling out like a demented clown.
I’m just wondering what you’re doing watching half-naked guys, most with feminine voices lifting weights…??? Sounds like gay porn videos to me.
I once was at a gym where the lovely Monica Brandt was working out in a dental floss outfit. I sported wood all day. The image is etched in my mind. Oh, sorry this post is about Ronnie Coleman, right? Frankly don’t give a shit.
Locking out puts stress on the joints, and doesn’t keep tension on the muscle. I believe in keeping tension, and saving my knees etc, so I no longer lock out until the end.
neh ronnie has acutally never yelled a word everytime i saw him train in my gym, hes actually very quite works out alone for the most part unless its bench press, as far as his tempo he usually does the thing with no locking out until the last few reps, least from what ive seen which isnt too often shrug, but nope no yelling when ive seen him hes pretty humble about it all and just goes in trains then leaves
I think it’s admirable of Ronnie Coleman to pull double duty. Being a police officer, enforcing the law during the day, and then turning around and pumping himself full of Schedule III controlled anabolic steroids at night. Coleman 1/System 0. I think we all lose when he hits the deck crying in disbelief after every Olympia victory. Yeah, what a shock, you won again. Joe Weider loves his men in bikinis.
I think Coleman retired from the police force.
I think he is on some kind of reserve status. I suppose he’s leaveing his options open and holding on to his seniority that way.
