How can you be agile enough to do split leg squats but not back squats?

Sometimes you confuse me.

I’m agile enough to do the back squat just somehow my back doesn’t seem to like them. Remember the back pain that only went away when I stopped do back squats? I obviously wasn’t doing something right but I can’t figure out what.

I baby sat for my friends 10 month old and now I am sick, just like I was last time I took care of him… bleh

Hopefully I will be back next week…

Are you allergic to babies? :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the story of my life lately. Seems like the basic exercises bug the hell out of my back, but single leg stuff and machines are fine.

I’m sure we’ll both straighten things out eventually.

To sick babies, yes :stuck_out_tongue:

When I was doing squats about a year ago, maybe more now, I started to have horrible back pain. I was having trouble standing, sitting, sleeping, needless to say I was always uncomfortable. I figured I was doing somethign wrong at the gym so I started to cut somethings out one at a time. When I stopped squating my back pain cleared up in about 2 weeks. Until I can get some one on one training and some clarity on where I was going wrong then I really don’t care to try squatting again. That said I do throw in some super light squats 85-100, while doing GMs. Those seem to be fine so far.

Have you ever tried front squats?
I know you do goblet squats sometimes with just the db…I tried front squats a couple weeks ago, and they felt more natural and easier on my knees surprisingly!!

I feel the same way. I think a lot of my issues are with my technique and that I’m obviously doing something wrong. I just need to figure out what it is. I think the main issue is that my technique breaks down too much when I start to use more weight. I don’t seem to have any issues with lighter weights and when I’ve had people look at my form, most haven’t seen anything glaringly obvious. Once I heal up, I’ll have to be more aware of that.

I’m still sick. Whatever that baby had has completely taken me down. I have been over powered by baby germs. I do see some light at the end of the tunnel though, I think next week I should be back… I hope…

Are you feeling well enough to get back in the gym?

Just yesterday I was pretty good finally. Then of course it snowed this morning…

I am pretty sure tomorrow is going to be the day though.Lol.

FINALLY!

…though I felt so damn weak, but I still had to start back somewhere.

Bench Press 1x10x45, 1x6x95, 2x5x115, 3x4x125

T Bar Rows 1x8x55, 2x8x65

HS Iso Row 1x8x100, 2x8x115

Incline Bench Press 1x8x35, 2x6x40

NG DB Press 2x6x40, 1x4x45

It feels great to be back though it kinda sucks as I felt I was really on an upward swing right up until I got sick. Hopefully I can regain that back.

Strange thing I did notice though, as I got to being out of the gym for a week I noticed my food cravings changed. I really wanted junk food and that is something I rarely crave and if I do it isn’t hard to ignore it. It really surprised me that although I was getting over being sick I just didn’t feel like I was able to make healthy eating choices. I look forward to getting back to normal.

yay for normal!

Glad you are feeling better!

SLDL 1x12x65, 1x8x95, 2x8x145

Hack Squat machine 1x8x90, 1x8x140, 2x5x140

Barbell curls 3x6x60

Tricep Pull over 5x5x50

Goodmornings 2x8x65, 2x8x85

Single Leg split squat 2x5x40

My seated leg press machine was broken so I tried out the hack squat machine, that is a completely different feeling machine.
I also totally cut back my SLSS casue my BG was getting low, I hate that.

Thanks!

So I know it is a dark picture but it shows what muscles I have in my back best, and the flash just made me look PALE. I have a long way to go but I am happy with that at the moment.
