I am seriously thinking about my next car being some sort of SUV w/ 4 wheel drive so I can get to the gym in all weather. I would even take it a step further and get a plow put on it so I could be unstoppable in the face of snow…
Of course this is coming from being stuck in the house most of the day because the city didn’t get around to plowing my neighborhood out until a little while ago.
So I finally made it to the gym…
Stiff Leg Deadlifts 3x8x145
Lumberjack Squats Squats 3x8x35
Goblet Squats 3x8x55
Seat tricep dip 2x8x90, 2x8x100
push-ups 2x10
I ususally do close-grip bench presses for my triceps but I don’t think I am doing those right. Somehow I don’t think you should be able to close-grip bench what you can normally bench. Besides it was bothering my shoulder which I know it shouldn’t do. This is one of those exercises I need to perfect w/ my trainer next week.
I believe that I could have done 1x8x60 but holding the 55lbs was bothering my wrist too much… apperently I am falling apart, lol.
I need to find a way to fix this wrist business because it is just annoying at this point and holding me back.

Hi Ronda - your wrist problem sounds like tendonitis or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and for those you should rest. I’ve suffered similar and some of your posts describe the same sort of pains during the same excersises as I had.
You could try a wrist support or brace to help restrict movement and relax the area of your wrist that’s probably causing the pain (should be worn as much as possible - and especially at night).
One thing in your last post has me thinking though. Wrist and elbow pain can sometimes be caused by shoulder or back problems. Have you seen your GP about this?

I’m pretty sure it is Carpal Tunnel syndrome. It has never been confirmed by a GP and now that I don’t have insurance and am in school I can’t go see a doctor, but I am aware of the symptoms.
If a wrist brace will help me sleep I will go out and find one because this has been waking me up at night.
I thiink it is possible that this could be cause by my upper back. When I first started training my upper back really really hurt and then eventually the pain subsided and I was fine for a bit. Then I started noticing pain in the wrists and some numbness in my fingers when I would lift and the wrist pain soon became constant. I am sure they are all related I am just not sure what I can do about it now out side of taking ibuprofen and resting when I need to.
I hate to say it but I am a little embarressed to only be benching 65lbs. I know I am doing it just for right now inorder to rest from a shoulder injury but I still feel weird about it. My shoulder does actaully feel ok, which is nice. Though even with only the 65lbs it still pops when I bring the bar down… ahh well.
I don’t think I mentioned this to anyone on this forum but I will be going away for Christmas and leaving in 2 days. I will be stopping in NYC for 2 days and then I will be off to AL where I will get to visit with friends and meet with my trainer. So for a little while I will be MIA and once we start going to the gym I will hopefully be able to update you all on my progress
Thanks for the heads-up I may move in here too! If I can figure out how to do it Don’t worry about lifting lighter for recovery- do what your body needs. Have a GREAT christmas vacation!

The wrist brace will definately help. It’s not just to immobilize the wrist, but it also holds your wrist in the best position to take stress off the surrounding tissue that is inflamed. It will stop the tendons aggravating the inflamed areas for at least a few hours each day (wear it more if you can - not just at night). It’ll also stop you getting your wrist into bad positions during the night. It’s not an instant fix but over a period of a few weeks I think you’ll see a definate improvement.
The sooner you can sort it the better too - Because of the way the tissue is in your wrist it’ll start to scar internally and makes you more susceptible to the same injury in the future. Too much scaring and surgery becomes the only real option. Good luck!
Oh and a good move to the Powerful Women forum. Very fitting!
Thanks jenemmar! I hope you have a good Christmas too
Renton- I’m going to get that wrsit brace before I take my 16 hour drive to AL. I can just imagine what I will be like after driving for a few hours, though wearing a brace on each wrist will look kinda funny, but I don’t care because it will at least feel better
Thanks, as soon as I saw the new forum I tried to get over here

I enjoyed browsing through your log, Ronda. I’m awed…you’ve done a great job!
Thanks Emily!!!
Honestly, the snow is driving me crazy! it is screwing up my workouts, grrrr!
Right at this moment I am in NYC and can’t go to the gym until Sunday Though I am really looking forward to going to the gym because I get to go with my trainer and I am hoping to perfect all the of the lifts I am having trouble with. I will keep you all updated with any progress I make. I am really excited for this next week to see what i can do
Hi everyone!
I’m here in AL and yesterday I got to go to the gym at UAB with my trainer.
I completely forgot the video camera but I got to 225lbs with my deadlift, yay!
It really felt was heavy, lol!
I think may have been able to get to 235lbs but my blood sugar had other plans so I am going to try again in a few days and I will try to get a video then
