RogueVampire - How'd You Get So Big?

I also saw in a post awhile back where you said you work up to a heavy “working set” of 225 on the standing OHP. What kind of reps are we talking here? Thats pretty damn strong…
I do military presses on the smith machine alternating with free weight military presses in the power rack. my heaviest weight in seated military presses are 300lbs for 9-10 reps. Obviously if i lowered the reps, i could do alot more weight. but who wants to get injured? not me.

I don’t do standing military presses, always seated.

Why is anyone taking this seriously? As far as I know, RV hasn’t posted video of any lifts, nor any picture of his physique, save for a couple sketchy webcam shots of an extremely well-built upper body and a more organic-looking shot of a fat slob.

What the fuck? I thought this was the ‘serious’ forum?
Same guy in both pics. its funny what bad lighting can do. improper lighting can make you look terrible.

yeah,… I’m sure there’s a whole list of things that can make you look terrible.

S

I once saw a picture of The Mighty Stu with improper lighting. (its in a locker room I assume)

JKJKJKJKJK Even though it isnt the proper lighting for the actual show he still looks beast because he is a beast.

I disagree with lighting making the tremendous impact you argue it does RV.

Any ways, congrats again Stu and apologies for borrowing your picture but that’s what you get for being BB role model

It’s serious until YOU have to come into a thread and TRY to be funny.

CAn you see someones body in the dark. even if that guy is 350lbs of muscle. If hes in total darkenss, you won’t be able to tell. So of course lighting makes a difference. if you take a pic in a dark lit room, with no shadowing or anything, it won’t look good. how do you explain the difference in my pics, considering they are same guy, with only a year between.

Stu looks like Dorian Yates kinda

Less britishy

another big difference is, my avatar pic, i didn’t have to hold up anything and just concentrate on looking jacked. my other pic, i just held up the sign to prove it was me. same guy. just about same bodyweight. i have never stopped working out, so its impossible for my body to change in the negative. come spring time, you will see more pics.

We’ve been over this already. You are responsible for poor lighting if you make the decision to take photos in semi-darkness. Shadows aren’t some living, breathing entity that just decided to ruin your pics (although I’ve no doubt that you’ll try to argue that shadows are alive just to derail this thread). In your second pic, one of the visible lights is either off or missing, so stop trying to lead people around the maypole: the bad lighting is your responsibility; you chose the conditions and location.

I genuinely want this thread to continue flame-free so you have a fair opportunity to discuss your training, and, real or not, this is the first time you’ve talked about anything other than training with a modified DC split(obviously that isn’t all you’ve done) or pontificate on methods you admit to never having used (e.g. 20 rep squats).

I’m only weighing in because you actively invite criticism and ruin your own credibility by making comments like those above. It’s not even about your eccentricities: you tried to tell me once that your avatar pic is the most recent of the two pics you’ve posted and again the focus became lighting.

If you can’t keep the discussion to your training from noob 'til now, the only conclusion is that you’re doing it deliberately. Carry on.

Shadows are alive. They’re gaurdian demons.

You should really stop thinking so ‘absolutely’ about everything. Of course it’s possible for your body to change in the negative even if you’re working out. Especially if you’re more advanced. BTW I’m not commenting on your physique, not saying it has happened or hasn’t, just that saying it’s impossible is ridiculous.

This was the same issue with your ‘you cannot gain muscle if you don’t gain strength’ argument. Nothing in bodybuilding is absolute. Everyone is different, and there are plenty of ways to get the job done.

Well, If i haven’t lost any strength, in fact im a good deal stronger now. obviously i haven’t lost any muscle. How can your body go backwards if you continue to train. I have never seen that. Unless your severely overtrained and you go backwards, otherwise, i don’t see how its possible.

I fully agree that its my responsibility and my fault how the pic came out. I wasn’t trying to say it wasn’t. next time i take a pic, i will make sure everything is right.

I think I’m losing my mind. I could have sworn I started this thread in the Bodybuilding section.
