RogueVampire - How'd You Get So Big?

Ironic that I have heard some here making that comment about others in the gym making more progress than them by “doing everything wrong”.

The way you train is similar to how I train… once I started doing less sets per workout and hitting each bodypart at a higher frequency I had insane growth.
Its funny, try and tell people to do less volume and they look at you like your nuts. I just say fine, keep doing 20 sets per bodypart and looking the same every year, never getting any stronger or bigger. Thats like working for free in my mind. Why bother working out if your not going to progress.
I know in other threads people have tried to mock you when talking about your training, but it’s really close to what I do aswell (just never been that open about it).

Always settled on a handful of sets per bodypart and done up to twice a week (worked 10x better). Only time volume is higher is after a reset/deload when I felt I needed it (burned out) - I’ll increase volume somewhat while load is lower.

Same goes for diet, always fall back on the shakes, more-so than solid food. It’s not ideal and people can laugh all they want but at the end of the day it works (so long as there’s enough cals/protein).
I think to say that this is a lower volume approach is a bit of a misnomer… at least for my training. Yes I’m doing less volume per session but I’m doing twice the sessions per bodypart. Funny how such a small change can dramatically change results. It makes me wonder if there’s some other change I can make to speed up gains.

I think everyone becomes that person at one point. IMO when people act that way it is a reflection of their frustration at their own lack of progress. When people are making good progress they usually don’t give a shit what other people are doing lol.

I’ve made it a rule of thumb that if someone is bigger or stronger than me I keep my mouth shut about their training… no matter what they do.

speaking of pressing. i read in the other thread about you that you bench over 500lbs. could you give us some insight into how you reached such an astounding weight. you also mentioned that you no longer train in the low rep range so i’m assuming you are repping that sort of weight. simply amazing!!! i would love to hear everything you have to say on the topic.
True, My max bench was over 500lbs. But after tearing my tricep tendon and needing surgery, I really don’t want that kind of injury again. So i just keep the reps higher. I train as heavy as possible in that range. How i got to that weight is what im doing now, alot of power rack work. thats always worked well for me.
you made it sound like you are benching over 500 now. so what do you bench now??

Just saw a pic of roguevampire for the first time, Wow.

I actually have nothing personal against RV. I’ve been on this site long enough to just ignore some of the posters who get caught up in their own idiosyncrasies, and various delusions, but until someone either displays real world results (strength or physique) as some sort of proof of knowledge, or displays in their postings a degree of knowledge and understanding of what is pretty much understood aspects of training and nutrition, I will not consider them a worthwhile source of opinion on anything we typically discuss on here.

You mentioned earlier that you train mostly for strength, but you do it in the “6-15” rep range? What is a typical chest day (with poundage) for you? And man, what type of suit jacket do you wear?

Like i said, i don’t do singles or double or triples. I am doing the most weight i have ever done with the reps im doing them for. I just try to get stronger with the rep range im using.

Nah, i never go higher than 10 reps, unless im doing a concentration curls or some isolation type exercise. I wear a 60-62 sport jacket. But, i rarely if ever wear one.

don’t be so cryptic… how much are you benching for reps then?? you obviously place a lot of emphasis on getting stronger.

Ive always wondered what country RV is from that no one has smart phones or any other means capable of taking a valid picture/vid of these amazing feats of strength.

any hows ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ answer Meats ? pluhuese I would love to know your strength levels as well since you are always preaching power. Can you also give a DL example?

This is ridiculous.

That’s pretty fucked up. He doesnt have legs.

peed my pants, awkwardddddd

I also saw in a post awhile back where you said you work up to a heavy “working set” of 225 on the standing OHP. What kind of reps are we talking here? Thats pretty damn strong…

I really have to ask:

Why is anyone taking this seriously? As far as I know, RV hasn’t posted video of any lifts, nor any picture of his physique, save for a couple sketchy webcam shots of an extremely well-built upper body and a more organic-looking shot of a fat slob.

What the fuck? I thought this was the ‘serious’ forum?

i just feel in order to continue to make long term gains, you have to get stronger in everything your doing. that doesn’t mean you have to bench press 600lbs. honestly, i don’t bench much anymore. I prefer doing inclines. what i did for weight was 350lbs for 9 reps. this is starting at the bottom position, which is alot tougher than a regular incline bench.
