I can’t either. I will pretend like it doesn’t exist. Sure I love the underdog stories… But cmon, a 60 year old Rocky beating Tarver… Give me a break. This is going to be horrible, I cant believe people will be stupid enough to waste 15$ on this crap.
Then again, that OJ show on Fox is probably going to be a hit also. Stop encouraging this crap, enough is enough! Whether you like it or not, it gives your country a real negative image like it has no level of culture whatsoever.[/quote]
If you think about it every Rocky after the first one, or maybe two, was stupid. And if you think harder most movies are stupid. they’re not about reality. If I want to see reality I’ll watch the news. I go to the movies to be entertained.
Take your nose out of the air and relax and go see the movie. It’s not like there isnt’t plenty of stupid stuff in Canada.

Who says he wins?
And where the heck are you going to movies where you have to spend $15 to see a film??? Yikes!

Can’t you make your own opinion?
Just look at the first pic on the page (in the ring). He looks pretty damn good to me. Especially since he’s 60.

As a Canadian I’m willing to attest that there is plenty of stupid stuff in Canada.

Edders makes a very valid point… each movie after Rocky I wasn’t realistic. In Rocky IV Drago was said to have a punch almost equal to 2000 psi which is more than DOUBLE that of Mike Tyson in his prime. Movies are almost never completely realistic, and there have been far more unrealistic ‘sports’ movies than the new Rocky Balboa. I plan on seeing the movie because I know that I will enjoy it no matter how unbelievable it is. I mean how can you not want to see it after the eye of the tiger starts playing at the end of the trailer!!!
q:How did you approach Rockys psychical being in Rocky Balboa and what did
you do to achieve the desired effect?
a:For ROCKY BALBOA I trained with very heavy weights like a power-lifter, and I duplicate that in the film itself. Heres an interesting tidbit: for months before the film a couple of high-ranking executives who shall remain nameless insisted that I let myself go, and in their words, Pork out.
I wasnt following their reasoning, and they explained themselves by saying, Rocky should just be an average guy and not in shape at all, so he represents the everyday man. Strangely enough, I followed this advice and one month before the filming I couldnt fit into my boxing trunks.
I looked in the mirror and thought this would be too much for the audience to swallow - that Rocky would be completely overweight and out of shape and manage to get in the ring with the world champion.
Though I like eating junk food as much as everyone else, I had to go on a crash diet of high-protein (mainly beef) and many, many supplements. I had to lift weights until I could barely stand. So the results were a more believable approach, that although Rocky is well over the age range, he physically appears to be in competitive shape. Rocky is still not in the same shape as he was in ROCKY IV, he’s just stronger.
I’m gonna go see it, if i can find someone else who is actually interested!
I read an article with sly, and he was saying, it’s not really a movie where the underdog comes out on top. he was saying that he understands his movie career doesn’t have much time left and the movie kinda relects that idea; being, and aging boxer, who knows he’s an old guy, but goes back to have self-respect or something to that effect. Froum the sounds of it, it would be more introspective and dramatic.
If they can make X-men and Transformers we can get Rocky Balboa!
Can’t wait!
Once again, a movie that connects with millions of people as we all deal with our impending mortality.
to the people upset that it will not be realistic I have four points

It’s a have too for me. I’ve always loved thr Rocky movies, even Rocky 5. Like someone said you have to disregard reality. I think the comeback story, just to prove he could still hang in was the only way to go. The ending will be a change, I think.
