So I recently hung out with my uncle, who is like some kind of minor celebrity in my area. Like he has no money really, but is some how a socialite, always partying and being close with like famous Kentucky people. Lol. Like his best friends are like a reality show: a 6’10" former University of Kentucky and NBA basketball player, a 260+ former Mr. Kentucky in Bodybuilding, and this 5’6" video store cashier/ semi-professional wrestler. lol
Obviously, the last one is what pertains to you. I was asking him how life was as a wrestler, even at a lower level like that, and does he have aspirations to get to like a MAJOR wrestling federation. He said he doesn’t think he will ever get to that level, because any of his friends who have moved into larger federations were either 1) pretty wealthy, and able to basically travel anywhere and everywhere to do what I guess are like ‘auditions’, and become SO well known, they eventually get noticed, and a big break, or 2) go to a level of drug use he feels is unhealthy for most.
I don’t know him well, and know nothing about wrestling, so he could be bullshitting. I was curious on what your take on this was.

I’ve talked to a number of guys who never made it anywhere in the industry and they all use money and steroid use as excuses.
You ask them how they train and for the most part, they don’t. And if they do, the routines they have are absolute garbage. Their diets are even worse from what I’ve observed. When we are talking about aspirations of high level athletics and a guy says pizza and beer are staples in his diet, what should be expected,
Its the same for people who want to be bodybuilders.
Wealthy? It helps…another excuse though. ESPECIALLY today where a plane ticket can be found at insane discount.
And if you’re good…a promomotion will send you to japan or wherever…if they think you have a shot. It makes them look good to say you got your start with that their facility.

Too many shows I’ve been to where a guy just comes out to some played out song…I stand alone for example. And half asses an entrance with 0 enthusiam…and in the ring has no idea how to work a crowd and get them to love or hate…and on the mic its the same I’M AWESOME BRO speech everytime.
You aren’t drawing attention to yourself by doing that.
No one wants to pay their money to see some dude who looks like a guy they work with in the ring. They want to have to dig in your past for a story…make them nervous. The GodFather, Undertaker, Mankind…people wanna know where the hell these guys came from …depth to the personas…unique ring attire

Gotta make yourself stand out. Create a logo for yourself and put it on your ringwear.

Its all about selling yourself. I operate under the assupmtion that if I work a crowd of 100, each of those people will tell 3 people about me or the show in general. 1 of those people won’t give a fuck, 1 will be ecited to see me, and the other will be a skeptic.
That will create a buzz just the same as traveling all over the globe
