As a football fan myself, I really do wish you good luck with this (what country are you from? I thought only US called it soccer??). Your very strong for 18 and it sounds like you have great genetics too. There is very few professionals who weigh more then you too, even very tall goalkeepers. You would be a beast if you made it… and it would be cool to see.
So give it your all because I want to see you make it. The good thing is if it doesn’t work out you should definitely go down a powerlifting/strongman/bodybuilding route… whilst it’s not the sort of money football can bring but you seem like you’d excel from what I’ve seen so far. Great work.
I have never met a football player ANYTHING like you. You are probably stronger then every single rugby player at my university. Which is crazy for a football player.

I am from Greece, I called it soccer so there are no misunderstandings Thank you for your kind words, I really aprecciate it.
Interesting…
Are there many gyms in Greece? What is the lifting culture there like? You are fluent in English, did you learn this at school? Do you eat a mediteranian diet?

There are a lot commercial gyms, not a single one like EliteFTS or IronSport. Lifting culture is all fucked up. Chest and biceps only, lifting will stunt your growth and crap like that. I didn’t learn English in school, because if I expected to learn proper English in school, I wouldn’t even be able to spell my name. I hired a tutor who teached me, when I was 7, until I got 14. 7 fucking years.
Anyhow, I got my degree in English when I was 14 and now I can even teach English. Now going too, just saying. I eat what you could say is a mediteranian diet, lots of meat up to a pound a day, lots of rice and spaghetti, not fruits or vegetables whatsoever and a gallon of milk a day. That’s it. Yeah, it sucks LOL.
14/11/11 Back day
Some bodybuilding work, nothing relatively heavy
Lat pulls
30x12
60x10
85kgx10
90kgx8
90kgx6x2
Seated rows
85kgx10 (too light)
100kgx10 (the top weight on this machine)
100kgx8x2
One handed rows on a machine
55kgx10
55kgx8
60kgx10
Kroc rows
50kgx12 (easy weight, just wanted the extra pump)
At this point, my lats are PUMPED BRO!!!
Then, some random bicep exercices. Total sets I believe were about 8-10 LOL. Reps were at about 10 more or less. One drop set at then, lat set was 4kg’s each hand for 10 reps.
I noticed something strange. My biceps get tired INSTANTLY. What I mean. I get let’s say, 5 reps. 5th rep is a 7-8 on a difficulty scale 1-10. 6th is the same. 7th doesn’t even budge. Weird things. All in all, the workout was about 45 mins long.
Hey bro, you are training for soccer which is for the most part a unilateral (single-leg) sport. Try to learn how to do a pistol squat (search for the few recent articles about it) it will help with your hip flexibility which is so important for footballers. I’m just a little worried that you are lifting so heavy so often that it will comprimise the agility and fluidity needed to play soccer.

It’s official. From now on, I am a center back. Goodbye goalkeeping (for now), welcome defence![/quote]
Seems a little strange to change your position at your age, but wasn’t peter schmeichel originally a striker or something? I’m sure it will work out fine though, since your build would probably make Micah Richards look small…

We’ll see. In no way it could be bad for me, to play as a stopper for 6 months or so, since I SUCK at controlling the ball, passing etc. So only good can come from this. Who knows? Thank you again for your kind words.
Did 3 hours of aerobic in the morning, in about an hour I am going in the gym to bench.
16/11/11 Bench @85%
barx8
40kgx5
50kgx3
70kgx2
90kgx1
100kgx1
110kgx3x5, last rep of last was paused and a max, so next week I am starting doubles. Probably I am going to increase the sets too.
Then did some smith inclines, DB inclines, DB presses, some external rotators in order to fix that tendonitis (hopefully) and 2 sets of triceps pushdowns. That’s all for yesterday.
Ahh, did you know? Type I fibers does not turn into type II. It’s impossible. The distribution of the fibers is genetic and cannot be changed with exercise, were the actual words of the professor. Also, a strength session should last 45 minutes, an hour tops. Any longer is counter productive. HA! Jokes on you Broz, jokes on you and your athletes whoa re probably going to win world medals.
The wrost workout ever, I won’t even log it. Barely squatted 200kgs. Sucky workout is the least I could say. My legs are completely friend from the running and 12 hours of aerobic I have done the last 2 weeks, so the next week is going to be a long deaload, just icing and massagin my legs. No soccer, no plyos, no nothing. The picture pixtures exactly how I feel about myself right now LOL!
However, I do wish to question the title of your thread. Are you really trying to became a proffesional soccer player? Because if the answer is yes, then you are not doing a very good job,

Well, to be honest, my workouts are being done to get me stronger, whether that will help me or not and right now, being a professional soccer player is something I don’t really care about but at the time I started this log, it was. Now, who knows? I’ll just keep hitting hard the weights, increase my endurance, do 2 to 3 soccer practises per week and time will tell. Probably I’ll end up powerlifting instead LOL.
I did 3 sets of lat pulldowns,3 sets of seated cable rows, 3 sets of unilateral machine rows, one set of yates rows with 90kg, some biceps and some external rotators work. Also, some cable lateral raises from -10 to 20-30 degrees to work on my hurt supraspinatus. I believe these will really help me relieve the pain on that shoulder and be able to military press again yay! I don’t remember the weights I used 'cause I really don’t care, but everything was above 6 reps. I was pyramiding the weight, until I got 6 reps. Wednesday is bench day, hoping to get 117,5x2x5.
My left shoulder started having that flaming sensation again after the bench. Nothing major, nor anything that hurt too much, but it was. I am going to have an MRI on that shoulder, also I am going to start 5/3/1 for powerlifting from next week and will be doing 2 workouts per week. Squat and deadlift one day, then the other day I am going to bench. No military presses for me LOL. I am hoping for at least a 650kg total by summer, by staying in this BW. If I gain an additional 10 kgs as I want to, I am goping for a 700kg RAW total by summer. Time will tell. Damn, those 6 hours of aerobic per week are sucking up of all my energy.

I will be interested to see how you go with 2 workouts a week, as that is what Im planning to do when my season starts.

From my past experience with this kind of system, fairly well. You should be able to increase your strength at about 20% less than doing 4-5 workouts a week. Well, at least that is what happened to me.
Decided to bulk. I am going to eat about 630 grams of carbs,260 of protein and as little as possible of fat (which is around 200 grams), 4 times a week. The other 3 are 300 grams of carbs, 310 grams of protein, about 225 grams of fat. Sounds like a lot of fat, we’ll see how it turns out. Keep in mind I am going to drink a gallon of milk per day. It’s time to gain some serious strength and mass. The 630 grams of carbs sounds like fun, NOT!
