Is cheating lel. The rep capacity isnt comparable i think so smashing rep PBs on sumo is smashing rep PBs but can’t be compared to ur rep PBs conventional nomsayin
In any sense 215 is moving faster than with my conventional so i do believe a PR will be there soon
When u believe everything is possible
Dam i shuda taken my 190kg set closer to failure to assert dominance lel. Good stuff man.
Kaleb’s gonna program 200 for 3 next week, then I think 205 for a double leading up to meet. Squats are feeling strong…
U r already capable of those on a good day.
Well to be honest the last two squat sessions I’ve had were PRs and were on about 6 hours of sleep. If I can string three weeks here together with better sleep and less work stress I don’t doubt 225-230 will be there
When u believe. Everything is possible
Yessir. In all seriousness, the mindset changes recently have played a huge part in the gains. Putting up these arbitrary mental roadblocks isn’t good for the gains…
No reason you can squat or dead 300 kg
Well… in 10 years my test gon drop enough that it won’t be straight gains anymore
Idk man, I’m leaps and bounds stronger than myself ten years ago and I’m 31. No slowing down here
Nice set strength wise. Top half the lift looking a bit strange
Im not sure what’s up with the lockout either. I think the hips through is getting complicated with stances here. I’m not being patient enough with the lift.
You’ve been doin sumo a while, and Kaleb pulls conventional lol. You got any idea as to why the lockout is funky here. Felt a little off balance
It almost seems like I’m pushing hips too far forward creating a balance issue…
Dunno how Kaleb coaches sumo. Has given me plenty of feedback on me squat but not a word on me deadlift.
It’s hard to say what’s going on for u. Could be a lot of things.
Important to know: how does it feel to you? Perception of difficulty, bar speed, balance, bar path etc. How’s ur positioning from knee lock timing, to pelvis position, back roundedness etc.
Maybe ur quads just too big and it’s a struggle to lockout over em. Could be just lagging hip strength. Could be ur not actively/continually pulling the bar into yourself while simultaneously opening the hips. Could be ur using the knee/hip lockout and soft knee tendencies and timing u had on conventional.
Whatever the issue I think you’d benefit from some practice of the relative timing and positions of knee lock and hip lock. What it’ll look like will vary a bit between different people.
From initiation Of the lift both knees and hips are going from whatever your start position is to locking out each joint. Once locked dems stay locked not se knee twitching dance action. So whatever happens is just a product of knees and hips locking. Shouldn’t need to force either just let it happen naturally.
I’d recommend pauses somewhere off the floor but before u initiate ur lockout sequence (knees-hips). Rinse and repeat until u got the timing down.
Kaleb was having me do very small deficits with some pauses and honestly they feel pretty good and look better on vid than the heavier ones here. I know ive only been pulling sumo for about 2 months now so I think working through these things will take some time.
This makes alot of sense to me and it is likely the case. I feel like that balance issue at the top has been created by forcing the lockout of the knees sooner than the hips kinda like i do when i pull conventional.
Appreciate the writeup, lots of good things to think about
Dem pauses wud be too early to do the job methinks. I mean closer to below the knee pauses so u can isolate the lock out portion
For most people knees will lock before hips. The exact timing will be individual. If they don’t lock or lock late it’s awkward af because they are in the way of a vertical/balanced bar path and keeping the bar close.
