Crush it
Can’t wait to see how it goes man! What are you planning to hit for openers?
Thanks @idontbrag123 @mortdk
I’m planning on taking 175/105/215 as openers. So 385/235/475 lol.
Strong!
Noice! Is this in the 83kg?
I wish man, lol no im weighing low 190s now. Dont plan on cutting since it is my first meet.
Weighed in this morning. Was 188 and set openers at 175/105/215.
I also saw Pete Rubish… he’s a lot bigger than he looks in video
Dude you NEED to get pic with him. I remember first getting into powerlifting and I stumbled across some of his basement videos. Pretty over the top but seems like a really good dude these days
@idontbrag123. Apparently Pete had some beef with the gym and he looked super pissed off the whole time so I didn’t go bug him for a pic. He did deadlift only.
As for the meet I’ll get videos up later. Went 9 for 9 and had 27 white lights. I was kinda impressed but this made me feel good about my prep for the meet. I’ll go into more detail later this week but my lifts went:
Squat: 385/407/418
Bench: 235/254/265
Deadlift: 475/501/523
I think I short changed myself on squats and deadlifts… you’ll see in the video but my perceived exertion was way higher that what the replay showed. Ultimately took 3rd place out of 4 others. There were more on the roster before weigh-ins but i guess people no showed or didnt make weight.
Congrats! Sounds like a great experience and successful first meet!
Hell yea dude! 1200+ total right off the bat. I’m surprised you didn’t throw 550 on the deadlift XD
Freaking awesome man, Congrats
Here’s the videos from my attempts:
Squat 1
Squat 2
Squat 3
Bench 1
Bench 2
Bench 3
Deadlift 1
Deadlift 2
Deadlift 3
Perfect! The Deadlift looks so light, you can pull 10-15 kg more than this. And the squat- so deep… The judges could give you the white flags for a lot higher.
Definitely a lot in the tank on the squats and dead. Your squat looks so effortless its ridiculous
Thanks, I’m not totally sure what I was capable of but I’m guessing I had at least 430 there.
Here’s a slightly more detailed meet report I posted on reddit
Thoughts moving forward:
I’m taking this week off of lifting.
Going to do the power building style of AI programming moving forward.
My goal is to enter another meet next year and beat my total by 100 pounds minimum.
Getting that 100 pound increase will have to come from attacking squat and bench.
List of weaknesses by importance: (let me know if these seem wrong to anyone)
Bench in general (need more volume)
Unilateral work for lower body
Upper back
Core
I’ll see how much volume will be incorporated in the new program style but I’d like to be hitting some DB bench and other pec isolation stuff for fluff. I may entertain a slightly wider grip as it appears my joints were necessarily stacked in my third attempt.
For squats, the programming style has been working for strength and that doesn’t change in the powerbuilding program. If I remember right there’s a few extra bodybuilding sets addded twice per week. I’d like to be doin some dumbbell or barbell one leg stiff legs and Bulgarian split squats for high reps. The extra muscle would def help me get to my 500 pound squat goal.
Deadlift continues to move with minimal effort. I’m prob not gonna change anything here. Extra core work and my squat going up is gonna make my deadlift go up.
