Rizla Training And Transformation Log

Thanks for getting back Chris. I’m using sometimes a mobile, the other times a desktop. Say someone comments and I press the reply to comment arrow, it will link the persons profile pic to the message at the top, but when replied it looks like a normal reply to a thread, if you know what I mean. I think it’s still taging the person anyway without showing, so all good. Cheers man

Pretty much. Like, I just got an alert from your reply even though you didn’t specifically tag me.

Weight still 190lbs. Think its time to add a little more food in. Still getting in my 20 min hill walk first thing before food. Using some nice orange flavour BCAAS for the walk. Tomorrow is a recovery day and a date night with Mrs Riz, then its back to the grind on Sunday.

I’ve got a nice strawberry and kiwi one that’s the absolute dogs danglies. Legitimately the only fun thing about uphill treadmill sessions.

Haha, yeah there isn’t much pleasure in early morning hill climbs. I normally use a nice blue raz flavour, though this new one is orange. I do mine outside, so nice weather is a big difference. It’s still pretty cold, but becoming more milder lately.

Few good rock tunes goes a long way to trailing your ass up that hill

Really looking forward to this once summer gets here. Should be a good few days.

Can’t come quick enough bud. I live for the summers and hate the winters. There’s so much more outside activity you can do. During winter I’m normally inside looking out the window complaining all day lol

How’s your sleep issues? Resolved?

Hey Allberg, unfortunately still on going. I was just discussing this earlier in another thread. It could be sleep apnea. I’m gonna have to get a sleep study done to find out. How’s yourself doin, all good ?

Hoping that you don’t have sleep apnea but if you do I hear there is relief to be found. If it turns out not to be, holler and I can provide some advice. Even though I never got to stay asleep, I found a multitude of ways of getting to sleep reliably (not sure if that was ever your issue though?) that I cycled between.

I’m doing relatively good thanks! Was really down in the dumps, and am not out of the woods yet, but I feel like I’ve reached an inflection point where things are at least getting better.

This is me all over. I can flake out no bother, It’s staying asleep I have trouble with. If you got any advice with it I’m all ears. I have tried the usual things you read online, like switching off all electronics, using supplements, meds, no caffeine etc. It could be TRT related ( hormones ), or the dreaded apnea. I think getting tested is my next move.

What has you down in the dumps?. Health ? That’s good you are on the up. Nothing worse than feeling crappy about things. You sound positive, that’s always a good thing.

I’m with you there Riz… although I’m Texas the swings can be crazy. It’s in the 40sand 50s currently, was in the 20s last week and 80s the week before. Never know what your gonna get!

Same here, and it’s unsolved. I’ll wake up no matter what I’ve done to myself. Melatonin, Z-12, ZMA, herbal teas, carbs before bed, and all combinations thereof are inadequate.

How so? If you mean it’s symptomatic of low T that is something that I’ve been considering as well. My bloods tell a hormonal tale not really in line with what my age.

How about a twenty degree temperature difference in a day? (celcius, so I believe that’s 68 in fahrenheit)

life’s like a box of chocolates in Texas by the sounds of it. I always thought Texas would have been sunshine year round. Any movie I ever watch looks that way… Maybe they only shoot movies in the summer haha.

Possibly, although other hormones like E2 come into play. When you look up low E2 sides you find most places say - sleeping too much too often. High E2 sides going by the same sources indicate - insomnia, sleep disturbance. I’ve had both high and low and still the same problem.

Could be nervous system problem, or an imbalance of neurotransmitters. I have read it could be something digested that is causing inflammation to the nervous system, apparently this can cause sleep disturbance. The list of possibilities goes on.

Does your bloods indicate low hormones ?

It could be a dopamine deficiency. I think you mentioned in earlier posts about past drug use and current pot use. This overtime can cause a dopamine deficiency and that can cause sleep troubles.

When my wife was going through chemo I definately coped with the whisky. Was getting to be way too much of a crutch. When I cut it out sleep was horrible for a while and I’m absolutely sure it was a dopamene issue. I wasn’t able to get into an enjoyable relaxed state and stay there. A few months with minimal to no alcohol use and I sleep like a baby now.

Another thing that really helped was to get up early at the same time everyday. 6:00am start time and my body is ready to go to sleep around 11. Hope you can get some relief

Whatever it is, I hope you can get it sorted. Sleep is so fundamentally important but it’s hard to tell until it becomes a perpetual issue.

Yes, lab results aren’t painting the prettiest picture and I feel off as well. I posted my numbers in another thread once Ask Physiolojik Thread - #402 by Voxel but I still haven’t read up properly on the endocrine system to really derive much out of them. Or rather, I’ve read plenty but nothing really sticks because of brain fog. Medical follow-up is slow but ongoing.

This is something I’ve been considering for the past while. My sleeping pattern is all over the place. I think you are right about the drugs, that’s bound to have caused some damage. It’s good to be past all that now and it’s great to hear you battled a few demons of your own and came through. I will look into dopamine and see if my doctor might run a few tests. Cheers jack

@Voxel had a quick look at the bloods and see your TT is low for someone your age. SHBG was a little on the high side, possibly binding up free test and E2 will probably be on the low side ( I didn’t see any FT or E2 testing ) maybe I misread ? I had bad brain fog when my hormones were low and felt off. You need to chase this up with a good doctor to figure out why this is happening. good luck man

Oh yeah, a strong circadian rhythm will help a lot. At the very least, it’s another suspect you could scratch of the list of potential culprits. If you don’t get much daylight exposure, and as such am supplementing with Vitamin D make sure you take it early in the day (lunch is a pretty good time).

I’ve found that the easiest way to establish a rhythm is just to get up at the same time no matter what. Regardless of it being the weekend, or if you fell asleep late. Those fancy alarm clocks that light up the room also help, but only if your bedmate wants to get up at the same time.

With regards to dopamine, have a look at Question of Strength 52

Besides blood tests, you need to rely mostly on behavioral observations. But there’s one test that can narrow it down.

Take 7 grams of tyrosine on an empty stomach in the morning, wait 30 minutes, and assess how you feel. Compare it to how you feel normally on most mornings.

  • If after 30 minutes of taking tyrosine you feel awesome, much better and more energetic than normal, the problem is likely dopamine depletion (tyrosine is used to make dopamine).
  • If you feel good, but not to the point of feeling like you just found the magic bullet, it’s likely noradrenaline depletion. In that case it might take 45 minutes to start feeling a bit better. That’s because tyrosine will make dopamine which will then increase noradrenaline.

I agree, unfortunately our health care service does not consider age and just acceptable TT values for all adult males regardless of age.

You did not, never got that tested.

Cheers, I’m trying

Thanks for the detailed reply, much appreciated. Vit D I take daily. I will try tyrosine, just need to pick some up. I’d actually read a few thread discussions about tyrosine for dopamine.
