Geeezzzz. You guys are making it hard for me to drown in my pity pool here.
The 22nd was the fourth anniversary of my sister’s passing. Which only served as a reminder that my BFF and dad have been gone for three years now too. I miss my BFF the most. He was always there with a line of shit a mile long to take my mind off the current circumstances/ situation.
His new wife told him once that she woke up at 2am and her body wanted to exercise. He said… “if my body wakes up at 2am and wants to exercise I’m going to tell it to shut the fuck up and go back to sleep!” He definitely did not understand my goals of lifting but would give me an atta girl anyway.
Y’all, all my friends here on this forum, have helped me through all this, and I am forever thankful. Thank you for keeping me going, especially in times when I want to give up, but sometimes I get distracted by what everybody has going. I started this to become stronger, bottom line. When I started I had to wrestle the 20lb dumbells I got from my buddy, now… not so much. When I feel like my numbers are insignificant compared to others I have to remind myself how far I have come.
Friday I benched 95 lbs for the first since 2017. Post “BIG meltdown”. This is HUGE for me. I have got to stay the course if I am to reach my goal ( of 100) by the new year. This has eluded me for so long, and I am so close.

That thing is about 7 feet tall and most of the bar is like the heavy 1½ inch structural stuff!
Weird place, had a whole bunch of interesting pieces created from scrapped random materials.
I had to get a pic of that one because I just couldn’t get over the play on words.

PimpDaddy would have never gone for wasting all the material. Oh no, you don’t need all that extra stuff in there
Not to mention it would be a nightmare to wire with rope light! Now, I am working out in my brain how I would build this better

Sorry to hear that. These things stick with us. Sometimes painfully.
Yesterday was my dad’s birthday. He has been gone for 27 years now, 5 years longer than I was old when he passed. But no matter how short or long, August 29th will always be his birthday for me and my siblings.
These days become our own personal days of remembrance.

I am also glad your area didn’t experience any of this mess. Most people I know in New Orleans are now in Texas. I’m even scheduled to get some Thursday for who knows how long. They’re bringing a great dane, son of my favorite dog ever.
It’s starting to get pretty dry here now. We were actually hoping she would throw some outer bands of rain our way. No such luck.
At least you will have some company in the dark.
