I ended up wiping my hands down with nail polish remover, then soaked them in some hot soapy water and removed it with a steel brush.
Today’s plumbing adventure went slighty better than yesterday’s and I now have running water again! Replaced three more hydrants but did not get the one to the chicken pen reconnected. Will work on that when the time comes.
