Rise of the Slaya 2025

@T3hPwnisher it’s Sunday so it’s carb refeed day (gonna have evening meal/. The actual diet says every 4 to 5 days. If I did that because I’m new wouldn’t that make my body more dependant on glycogen instead of converting fat to energy? Because it’s currently used to carbs anyway. If I do it once a week then itl run out of glycogen quicker and be forced to use the fats before the next Sunday. Bit of confusion about this but that’s what I’m thinking, or does it not really matter lol?

Maximum definition
600 grams diced beef
6 eggs
Cooked in butter
Carb refeed meal, Bolognese pasta
Some frozen yoghurt with various toppings.

Wasn’t planned, helped a friend rip up carpet all day then went for some food. Rather than being a weirdo had some food.

I only do once a week myself, but by all accounts the 3-5 day approach works.

How have the boxing workouts felt with the diet?

I think I noticed it the most today surprisingly even with the carbs last night, just felt flat. Generally training sucks because my cardio sucks anyways lol. I woke up today though feeling a lot better physically when I normally feel like shit and tired. Excited to see how it progresses, I think today was my 5th day. Digestion alot better too. Guts don’t feel bloated as hell like they did before.

That digestive improvement is definitely the big thing. There’s a lot less “noise” when you cut out all the plants.

I’ve lived with digestive problems as long as I can remember so this is good. I’m keen for the energy change though. I’ve noticed sometimes I’m hungry and sometimes I just eat till satisfied, No constant hunger like eat some food then an hour later hungry again. I do get the odd carb craving but nothing I can’t handle, which I’m sure will make the Sunday carbs even better lol. I didn’t find that much enjoyment last night though.

All good signs and revelations. You’re experiencing life WITHOUT a blood sugar spike, followed by an insulin response and corresponding blood sugar crash. People refer to that as the “blood sugar rollercoaster”, as it’s just as you describe. You get hungry, you eat, you feel good for a little bit, and then you’re hungry again. It’s because sugar is a fast burning energy source, and once your body uses it all up, it has no other fuel because it ONLY knows how to burn sugar, so it sends out signals for you to seek MORE sugar. When the body becomes fat adapted, it will use stored bodyfat for fuel, which creates a much more stable energy base. And by still introducing carbs on occasion, you train the body to be able to shift between the two energy sources: burn off the carbs/sugars first, then switch to fats.

So many folks are ONLY sugar burners, and when they run out of sugar, it’s a bad scene for them. They get light headed, weak, hangry, etc.

The craving shift speaks well too: the body is adapting to the fuel source. I noticed that as well. I was a binge eater: I’d get the yummy food in front of me and enter a fugue state until suddenly it was gone. Now, I can enjoy/appreciate a carby meal, but that’s all it is: enjoyment. And when it stops being fun, I can stop eating it.

Glad you’re getting some good from this process.

I have an extremely large appetite. I can go to an all you can eat buffet absolute stuff my face then 45 minutes later wonder when my next meal is. Now though some of my meals I just eat most of it and save the rest.

I’m excited for this, that’s quite beneficial…

100% me, that’s going to change now.

I’m craving my meat and eggs today, just had my morning session fasted and can’t stop thinking about meat and eggs…

Me too. What blows my mind is Vince came up with this years and years ago… Smart man.

Upper back/shoulder/ mid back mobility sucks. Otherwise that decent session, weights heavier but increase to 80% tm this week, also was a bit fatigued towards the end. Good session though

I ate a 5lb cheeseburger in 30 minutes, and have gone 90 minutes at a Brazilian steakhouse, resulting in the pitbosses asking me what it will take to get me to leave, haha. I totally get where you are coming from. It’s an asset when it comes to training recovery.

And too true: Gironda was so far ahead of his time.

That is impressive. What did you say to the pitbosses?

They asked “Sir, what is it you are wanting? Lamb? Steak? Ribs?”

I said “Yes, all those things!”, haha.

What makes you say this?

In strict press, I notice it was tight when pressing overhead, same with on pullups which is why I changed grips.

Great session. Did 8 or 9 rounds of sparring which is the most I’ve done so a PR lol, not sure if it’s because I drank some electrolytes during my session or before, but I don’t think that’s be the case. Energy was good. I’ve never been confident for sparring so sparrings a new thing for me, always just done the class etc and not sparring. Sparring is a whole different animal in terms of cardio fitness.

Going to change to unsalted butter, as using salted butter then applying Himalayan pink salt is simply way to much lol. And I use a very generous portion of butter of course for this diet.

Also, wasn’t going to upload it but will give everyone a laugh. My dinner sausage looks like a :poop:

If your concern is about the health impact of salt, don’t sweat it (pun partially intended): without carbs, your body isn’t holding much electrolytes, so salt intake can go up. However, if it’s more a flavor concern, then yeah, no need to get too salty.

Good to see energy held for sparring with he diet. @PowPowPunishment is currently pursuing boxing alongside strongman training. Might be worth reading through his log. Cardio is a part of sparring, but the other part is about not wasting energy, which are two different things. Check when Mariusz Pudzianowski first got into MMA: he had an AMAZING gas tank as the 5x WSM, but he wasted SO much energy in his fights that he still got exhausted and gassed out against dudes like Tim Slyvia, who, despite being in worse shape, knew how to pace himself and stay relaxed in a match. You can gas out in one round or last for 5 with the same gas tank if you know how to keep calm when you need to and explode when it’s time.
