My wife caught a couple kids at her high school going at it. The problem is that these kids are borderline retarded on their best day and they seem to reproduce like rabbits. They have sex ed freshman year but it doesn’t seem to stick.

These kids actually come into school thinking that pulling out is birth control, or that you can’t get pregnant the first time. F***ing idiots.

Babies are expensive… for the rest of us since the “father” bails and mom uses the kid as a source of income (aka welfare).

(Can you tell that I deal with shitty people all day at work?)

Not if you leave em in a dumpster

My girlfriend works with residents in low-income/subsidized housing, so i hear all about these kinda people. (not saying they are all like that, but I only hear about the bad ones and there is alot). Stereotypes are very real.

I never claimed that I was being safe. It was done out of necessity and lack of proper planning. I can recall one time that I actually asked around and struck out but I wasn’t passing up the opportunity

You mention a lot of bitter work related encounters with shitty people in different posts. May I ask what you are doing for a living?

Not JM, but he’s a police officer.

Yep, I’m a cop. I’m currently a patrol officer which means I respond to 911 calls. We have several different units we can join but you have to wait your turn. There’s a chance I could get selected for our new violent crimes response team this year but it will be a while. I will have to wait for some promotions and other movement. The best part about moving to one of those units is that I wouldn’t have to respond to regular calls anymore. They do more selective police work like targeting gang members and other violent criminals.

For now I feel like I just try to to solve people’s life problems for them. They like to tell me what I’m supposed to do when I show up and then get mad when I tell them that’s not how it works. It’s mostly nonsense. I feel like I rarely actually get to arrest a criminal. I’ll write a case about what they’ve done but they’re long gone by the time I get there. If the case is good enough then a warrant will eventually be issued but we don’t have the resources to go hunt them down right away (unless it’s a homicide).

So, yeah, I get a bit bitter. When you deal with bad people (or even good people having a horrible day) the negativity has a way of seeping into you like poison. It’s tough to shake it. I’m hoping that getting away from it (the patrol nonsense) will help me enjoy my job again. It’s always more fun to arrest bad guys than it is to go to dumb calls like “my 10 year old foster child is out of control”. Some people seem to think that their lack of parenting for a decade is somehow our problem when their kid is being a little shit.

Certainly understandable. Still being a police officer was always my true career wish. I always wanted to be one.

I work in a biggish city and we can’t possibly keep up. I think if it was a smaller area and the call load was lower then it’d be more enjoyable. It’s the typical overworked and understaffed problem. The sad thing is that citizens just have to wait longer and their cases don’t get a lot of attention.

Was wondering why I didn’t see your log updated in a while, a new one. Close to 200 posts in haha

Get with the times Velvet! Haha

@Frank_C whenever things get rough, either on the streets or the management put a lot of S*** my way, I always turns into this superpositive mind of “being the knight in shiny white armour, that comes to rescue the maiden virgin” somehow when back at the streets, there’s always a bit of true in this.
There’s always this one little incident were we did a difference no matter how small it was. I know the majority of things are not that shiny, but at the end of the day, if you made just one person think you did a good job. And we all have those awesome moments were we caught the bad guy and but the bastard away, leaving somebody relieved and happy.
That’s why we are “The thin blue line”, and why most people support us. We just do not see all those “maiden virgins” the one that sees and hears the sirens and think thank god we got LEO’s.
