Rise Of The Slaya 2019- Next Strongman Comp prep and fixing my hip

Tf? One zone in Brisbane for a student is $1.30

Hmm I’ll have to do some research. That’s pretty crappy how everything is that expensive man. We’re really lucky over here in australia

Also once i take a bus for $0.60 any bus or train ride for an hour after that is free. You have a smartrider right? Sucked in :joy:

@T3hPwnisher how do you keep your core tight during farmers carries? I cant keep braced when i take breaths, i lose all core tightness. I can hold my breath and stay tight but that isn’t feasible with carries and i think breathing helps with speed so far

10 mins mobility/foam rolling/stretching

Short breaths if any. Keep in mind, speed is the goal with farmers. 8 to 10 seconds for 50’ is a good time. If you are taking like 30 seconds, weight is too heavy for training benefit.

Thanks man. I’ll keep that in mind from now on

I did just see you were using a trap bar. My advice may not apply. I have never seen anyone move fast with a trap bar. The centered weights vs out in front of you tend to make it hard.

Well i can still use the info for future when i use famers handles.

I was having the same problem with both farmer’s and yoke carries. Do short, quick breaths like the ones you see women in labor doing when they’re having contractions.

Here’s an easier analogy for you, it’s like how you would play the didgeridoo

I’ll try out short quick breaths, but the problem is as soon as i take any breath all of my bracing dies on its ass

Haha I’m not talented at musical instruments to even be able to play one

Almost zero Doms today. Body seems to have adapted a bit to training again

It’s counterintuitive, because you’re always taught to breath with your diaphragm, but try breathing with your rib cage, it will help keep your core tight.

You have do to short explosive breathing.
When you’re breathing you’re exchanging all the air in the lungs.
You’re breathing in and out in a slow pace.
Now when you want to brace and breathe at the same time, you can only exchange the air in the upper portion of the lung.
Your core muscles have stabilised the lower part of the lung.
So when you read this. Brace and in very small quick explosive burst of air only breath with the upper part of your lungs in and out through the mouth.
Hyperventilating you could compared it to as well. You can’t go on forever like this but it give you a bit more.

This is one of the hardest things to work on i think. I still cant keep tightness even just practicing right now. I can stay a little tight but I can’t get maximum core tightness by taking breaths. Think tomorrow I’ll have to get some help from Matt (Strongman guy)

Strongman class. 1 hr 10

Matt had us Warm up with axle back squats bunch of sets of those

Axle wagon wheel deadlift sets of 2 up to 130kg ×2

messed around with log clean and press

Bunch of farmers walks and carries supersetted, then

Farmers handles 3 sets with 60kg per hand × distance, drop turn around and go again × distance? Forgot to ask how many metres

Zercher carries 3 sets × weight? × same as above

All i know was i was gasping for air and that was probably the hardest training session I’ve ever had, i obviously have never pushed myself enough but i feel like this is the beginning of something great. Was fucking awesome. Ive been obsessing over strongman since i went and watched WA’s strongest man and after today This is 1000000% what i want to do.
