Hey Duke! Dropping in to see what’s been going on. BOXING
Ahhh I could gush about boxing alllll damn day, to this day one of my favorite sports. It is a brutal goddamn sport too, especially the training. I credit it to my work ethic in any of the sports I competed in. I’ve been pushed to tears from boxing training on a few occasions. Your fitness is gonna skyrocket too. You have any plans to compete in it??

Boxing is awesome man, ive had an itch to do it for a while!

Yes i think so. Just testing the waters so far

The boxing sounds like fun, I wish there was somewhere near me but there is not! Your feet will eventually get the hang of it!

That endurance will come buddy and the movement will feel more natural. I remember once having to move forward and backwards along a line on the floor for pretty much the whole 2h session. Was in the ring doing pad work and kept getting told to check my feet, I was then pulled out the ring and told to keep going backwards and forwards until they told me I could stop! It really is about hammering the basics to start with which can get frustrating.

Haha yeah its fun. Luckily i love brutal training and pain.

I get quite frustrated at myself when im bad at something, I shouldnt pressure myself badly so much because im only learning

How long did it take you to get the basics under control?

Quite a while to be honest, a good few months. The biggest problem with being a newb is that you don’t tend to get any real attention from the coaches other than a passing comment here and there, they wont invest much time in you until you prove your sticking around. The longer you stick around the more one and one time you will get and the faster you will progress.

The other factor is that most of the technique work is done whilst fatigued so your concentrating on trying not to die as well as what you are learning. That will obviously get better the fitter you get and things feel smoother when feeling fresher.

Just stick around, ask for pointers when ever you can and implement them whilst doing you bag work and shadow boxing.

This was always my issue as well. The more fatigued I got, the more shrugged and tense I would get. Made my hooks slow and my jab and cross even slower. Doing everything under fatigue once you get it down though makes life so much easier and partially why I train the way I do now with weights. You’ll love boxing Duke. To mirror others, it was the best shape I was ever in and I loved every minute of it.

:joy::joy: lol

Foot work is the hardest part of boxing. You’re still very new to the whole thing don’t let it bother you. A big part of boxing too is keeping your cool even when something has pissed you off.

Boxing is teaching me patience and that unlike lifting i cant have instant gratification. It takes hours and hours to learn 1 simple thing and see the work pay off

Piece of shit session. Partner was an idiot and instead of doing what we were meant to kept trying to spar the whole session and would almost cry like a baby every time they got hit even though it was super light technique work. So basically i spent the whole session putting up with a dumb cunt and i Worked on nothing and it was a big waste of time
