today’s training
Meant to be front squats 5×5 70kg nice and light. Havent done them in ages, my left hip flexor got pissed off so that’s not healed.
This is the reason I cant squat now. My bodies so twisted and fucked up with all these imbalances that it fucked my left hip flexor from continuing to squat. Anyways it was meant to be 5×5 but I packed it up after the first set.
I’m going to be fixing my imbalances and not focused on pr’s etc. My right erector is way bigger, lat, Shoulder and chest, Bicep, Tricep, forearm, quad, hamstring etc
Anyways my inbalances are absolutely horrible, My bodies all twisted and shit. My front squats used to look normal now it’s gone to this, Its time to fix my body instead of ignoring everything. I cant activate alot of muscle groups on the left side compared to the right either. I’m going to be doing single leg/arm exercises, while doing most of the sets with my left and a tiny amount just to keep my right side from atrophying.
Why don’t you research up on postural imbalances in the front squat per se? Very good readings/materials from Eric Cressey etc. regarding shoulder health. For hips, go to deadlifting coaches, ETC.

See a physio or somebody who actually knows what’s going on back there. Not sure it’s just the hip.
Yeah my body is out of whack lol… I tried to get bulk bill physio but my doctor wouldnt let me. So for no its a no because cant afford it. Tomorrow i see my massage therapist which should help

15 metres. Lol took me the whole 60 seconds. I got 14 seconds in training but this just sucked shit today lol
I came 3/5 tho for yoke
2nd event, Axle medley
80,90,100kg. Crushed the 80kg overhead which is an axle clean and press pr. Cleaned 90kg easily but couldnt press it
3rd on this event too
Deadlift medley
180,220,260,300kg. Crushed the 180 and 220kg but couldnt budge the 260
Farmers
100kg per hand ×10 meters, 5 seconds time pr. This was fast as fuck and fastest on the day. Unfortunately time didnt matter. The medley was 100kg per hand 10 meters and 130kg per hand back. I fucked up on the 130 per hand, I didnt adjust the handles so it was way too wide. Couldnt pick the 130 event though I did 135kg for 5mette in training. Happy with the 100kg time pr tho.
zeroed 100kg farmers in first comp, crushed in second
Sandbag to shoulder. I was 3rd coming into the final event, 3rd would have qualified me for states. I zeroed this event. Almost shouldered the bag but couldnt get it there. Came 5th but still had great time and learned lots. I’m ded lol

Thanks man! pissed that I missed out on qualifying for states because I narrowly missed getting 1 rep on the final event ,which was a goal i set early in the year. I didnt achieve any goals this year except for my 135kg farmers walk. (Well I graduated year 12 which I’m glad I achieved as well) But I kept training and still tried my best regardless even though I’ve had a bad few months of training and injury. I put in 110% Today and I gave it my all. I’m glad I still pbed on farmers and axle clean and press, as well as almost qualifying. Almost isnt good enough though. I will get to states next year!

You’ve achieved so many good things during the past year. You’ve probably pushed it just a bit too much when everything was going insanely good.
You almost had to abandon this meet due to your twisted body, but didn’t.
Showing up in those conditions and almost getting there is absolutely good enough.
Now you don’t have states to worry about, only to get you body back in business. So pay attention to that.

Ohh I mean that like almost isnt good enough- I want to be good enough so it fuels the fire. I’m not angry or anything at the result, I’ve had a tough time lately and did what I could. I can only improve

Thanks man! Surprisingly my back held up, I used a massage gun of my mates allday which helped massively. Probably wouldnt have been able to compete without it. My hip flexor was fine too.

It’s coming along really well. Pretty much everything is good except ATG squats so I’m solid. That being said, I do think I’d rather go the PL route than strongman ![]()

I was thinking about trying out Olympic lifting. I plan on doing an amateur mma fight in the next 6-8 months, so I think Olympic lifting would compliment it really well for explosiveness. Plus mma will really increase my conditioning, and I plan on losing some fat. After that il do a few months prep for a qualifier and qualify for WA’s strongest man, which will be great with my improved conditioning. I also think learning to split jerk will give me the edge I need for overhead. My best push press is 90kg
