I never ran the exact program, but I’ve basically looked to the DDD program to motivate my entire training approach. I usually deadlift 4-5 days per week, each session low total volume, topping out around 80-90 percent of my 1RM for most sessions, occasionally going for broke and setting a new PR. Beyond that I dabble in squats, sandbag lifting, farmer’s walks, and a little kettlebell work but deadlifts probably account for 75 percent of my training.
with that said, I do believe the idea of DDD program is that it can be run “in addition” to whatever other training you are doing - although I think this is kind of geared towards athletes of all types - StrongFirst is a big kettlebell group, so I think this idea was really popular among kettlebell sport athletes who do a ton of KB snatches and cleans and TGU’s that wanted to increase their limit strength as well; I think it’s also meant for combat athletes, runners, etc. Figuring out how to integrate with someone doing a lot of barbell work already is different. I certainly wouldn’t bother with any other deadlifting if you’re doing DDD.
if you’re going to sustain your other strongman work and do DDD - be extra conservative. Just do 3 singles, most days at 75-80 percent. All the sub maximal work will add up, really. I’m up to a 620 deadlift now and that’s built on a bazillion deadlift singles between 405 and 545ish. Only recently have I been going over 545 with any regularity.
It says it’s for people who pull 1-2 times their bodyweight. I’m just above that but I think I’ll still improve. It’ll also help me keep my dopamine levels up. I think I’ve struggled this week because my training frequency dropped and I had too many days off between tough sessions.
They haven’t been released yet. Since the first comp of the year is in april that’s all i know. Im just basing what i need to be able to do on this years april comp weights/events.
@danteism i thought you would find this interesting. I’m pretty certain my sister is a Type 1a. Is this because of genetics? My parents strike me As Type 1’s as well. I also have a weird theory that people with the same Neurological profile aren’t as suited to each other as a mixed neurotype couple. The mixed Neurotype will balance each other out in the relationship, whilst the same neurological profile will constantly clash with each other.
Probably shouldn’t go with the elbow or knee sleeves since you would probably quickly out grow them right now with your current biological age and training age.
Can still hit a growth spurt or get some unexpected growth and might outgrow newish gear, is all I m saying. I would personally go for one the grip-lements.
I’ve noticed the same thing, but we have to remember that 30-40% of your behavior is due to upbringing, so a person can show characteristics of a neurotype s/he is not just because they were told to act a certain way. Your upbringing probably mirrors that of your parents to some extent as well. But as I said, I’ve noticed something like that as well. That being said, you probably know your sister and parents pretty well, so you may very well be right about their neurotypes
That’s pretty logical; if you have two 1As in a relationship just the sheer amount of competition could ruin it, for example. But in real life, love is love.
Just imagine sliding a note to a girl you like; she opens it thinking it’s one of those “will you go out with me” - things. Inside she finds a brief description of each neurotype and a question: “which one are you?”
theres always a chance. i’m definitely getting some a little before my comp no question about it. I want to have the best possible performance come game day and win (i’m not saying i’ll win from having elbow sleeves or some shit, but i will take every advantage possible).
