Can one of you old timers explain to a young buck what the “Mission to Mars” and “Lost in Space” references were all about?
This is the prequel to the original Planet of the Apes. In the original Charlston Heston is n astronaut who lands on a crazy planet run by apes. He doesn’t realized he’s on earth until the end when he see’s the Statue of Libery in ruins (you’ll notice at one point Caesar is playing with the Statue of Liberty in one scene). So the guys on the Mars launch will get lost in a time warp and land on earth many years later not knowing what took place on earth. That’s where the original Planet of the Apes starts.
Thanks for the info. I was thinking it had to be some sort of set up for a sequel, which I’m really hoping we get a bunch of.

The apes don’t really overthrow the humans per se, correct? The humans die off from the disease A13 causes. The scientist who sneezes on the pilot then dies, then the pilot coughs/sneezes blood. That is what wipes out the humans, the apes then run the planet when the astronauts come back to earth. Or do the apes overthrow the humans?
They don’t show the apes overthrowing the entire population. We actually don’t know exactly what happens because they changed the story up a bit so the sequel won’t be exactly like the original. There were still humans on the planet when Heston lands in the original so they weren’t all wiped out. The apes enslaved the humans so I’m assuming there was a war at some point according to the original.
Forward to 2:00 in this clip. Heston assumes it was war that ruined the planet. In the prequel it’s A13 so I imagine the remake is going to be different than original. The girl on horseback was already on the planet when Heston crashed there.

better than I expected, then again I thought it was going to be awful. Was a decent movie.
not theater price worthy, but decent.
Fuck, what movies do you like man? Just stay at home and watch HBO. Jeez.
Agreed. Like those guys that downlaod everything off the internet. I dunno but maybe your girlfriend would like to get out of the house you cheap bastard!

it was an ok movie, not great, but ok. Not as good as some hyped it to be.
And I would have felt disappointed paying $30 for 2 movie tickets to see it.
$15 a movie ticket?!? It wasn’t in 3D, why so expensive? I thought $11 is expensive here.

Believe me, we go when a movie is worth it (Iron Man and the like).
And around here (outside DC), it’s best to stay home to watch a movie.
Past 3 times at the theater:
people talking just inside door as movie starts, someone in sitting says be fuckin quiet, person by door “OH NO HE DIDN"T NIGGA BE…” and 5 secs, people by door turn lights on for like 10 secs
people talking during movie loudly
audio goes out for like 2 mins (near the climax of the movie), I am the only one that gets up and talks to management to get it going again.

LOL, what kind of theater are you going to? I see about 12 movies a year and the events listed have probably happened once each in the last 10 years. I wouldn’t go to the movies either if shit like that happened all the time so I don’t blame you.

closest theater is 10 mins away, that’s what happens when you are the white minority in a county it’s not racist if it’s true, anyways next closest theater is about an extra 20 mins away, I’m jut not up for driving that extra time to see a movie when I can stay at home on my 65" 1080 with surround sound and pause a movie whenever I want, or eat whatever I want.

Damn I feel for you on the theater situation. I have about 5 or 6 in a 10 mile radius, a relatively new AMC within walking distance. I am jealous of your home setup though. I don’t have the balls to pull the trigger on a new TV. a 65" would be awesome.

DLP my friend paid $650 for an open-box through TigerDirect.com amazing picture, sure it’s about 16" deep, but what’s the point of hanging a TV on a LR wall when you still need space below for all the components

I used to drive 30 minutes just to get to the city. Movies aren’t for you, Hova. I’m gonna have to ignore your posts in movie threads.
