For Fucks Sake, folks. Watch this movie!
What about the Shenanigans?
2003, bro? You’re a veteran.

I call shenanigans.
lol. Yeah I been around a while. I mostly post in training forums and lurk in GAL but I’m always looking through demotivational pics for a laugh etc. I liked your quote above and that was my first thought too. So to see you do a 180 after seeing the movie was pretty cool. So I supose they made it believeable to overtake the entire human population?

I won’t spoil it for you, but there’s nothing in the movie that I call bullshit. Every thing the Apes did was smart and badass.

Wow, 2003 in the house. I thought you guys died in the great fire of 2003.

lol. A few of us made it out of the fire but I lost my eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. My face is a blurry mess. But I use my powers for good and not evil trying to avenge my fallen brothers.

If I’m to pick between:

Captain America

or

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Which one do I go see this weekend?
See them both. You’re not poor.
In this scenario where I am now seeing both, which one would I walk into first?
If with nephews or your buddies, watch Captain America. And then go to the recruiting office.

If with a date or you want something that you can feel emotionally, Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
What if I’m with my girlfriend but she brings along her nephew?
Send the nephew to watch Captain America by himself while you and the girlfriend bond while watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

And then go for Captain America ice cream at Baskin Robbins.
Now that’s what I’m talking about.

I’ll let you know which one I enjoy better.

I liked the movie. It wasn’t great by all measures, but it was enjoyable. The Gorilla in the movie is badass.

How do 100 Apes take over a planet with 6 billion humans in it.

Shenanigans.

I’m sure they’ll explain that in the movie.
yes, the movie lays the ground work for this to occur. 100 apes can turn into 1000 apes very fast. lol

i thought it was good, especially when the apes dominated some humans, but that ending was weaksauce. I didnt see the original though so maybe thats the way it was supposed to be.

What did you think was meant to happen? It’s not the full story, they are setting it up for future productions.

Just saw it…great movie. I highly recommend it. I didn’t mind the ending either. FWIW, I’ve never seen any of the POTA movies, though. I thought that there was quite a buildup, as well.

i really enjoyed this movie - some people won’t get the fact it’s setting it up for a new trilogy and will write off the movie before they even see it.

I’ve had pretty good luck this week - saw captain america, hanna(probably the best movie I’ve seen this year) and now rise of the planets of the apes.

Hanna is awesome. Very underrated compared to all the other movies out.

LOL at not knowing the details of the original series. I mean, I know some of you are young, but even if you hadn’t seen it, this is like not knowing who Jaws is.

They have the world at their finger tips…too bad their blind.

Haha. The ending was weaksauce BECAUSE you didn’t see the original. If you didn’t see the original you have now idea what the whole “Man to Mars Mission” and “Lost at Space” newspaper meant.

Spoiler:

The ending was awesome because it explains WTF happened when the astronauts land. That was always open to interpretation in the original although Charlton Heston made it sound like the it was due to war. I like the virus idea better anyway.

I might be biased as a big fan of the original Planet of the Apes, but this was my favorite movie of the year.

better than I expected, then again I thought it was going to be awful. Was a decent movie.

not theater price worthy, but decent.

SPOILER ALERT

Can one of you old timers explain to a young buck what the “Mission to Mars” and “Lost in Space” references were all about?

This is the prequel to the original Planet of the Apes. In the original Charlston Heston is n astronaut who lands on a crazy planet run by apes. He doesn’t realized he’s on earth until the end when he see’s the Statue of Libery in ruins (you’ll notice at one point Caesar is playing with the Statue of Liberty in one scene). So the guys on the Mars launch will get lost in a time warp and land on earth many years later not knowing what took place on earth. That’s where the original Planet of the Apes starts.

The apes don’t really overthrow the humans per se, correct? The humans die off from the disease A13 causes. The scientist who sneezes on the pilot then dies, then the pilot coughs/sneezes blood. That is what wipes out the humans, the apes then run the planet when the astronauts come back to earth. Or do the apes overthrow the humans?

spoiler ----------

going from memory - it wipes out the majority of the population, the rest begin to slightly devolve while the ape population begins to thrive. So the apes become the dominant species.
