Rise of the Planet of the Apes

I really loved the movie. 4 months ago, I thought it looked lame. 2 months ago, the 2nd trailer made it look cruel. 4 Hours, I had a great fucking time watching it.

Hail Caeasar!

Makes sense. The catalyst for mankinds downfall has to tie in with the rise of the apes however when you say he’s going to model the war on real-life conflicts does that mean he’s tackling further instalments of the series or just within this film? That’s alot of ground to cover for one film.

I hope it’s covered in one film. I don’t think this needs to be a trilogy.

I was pleasantly surprised by X-Men: First Class because they didn’t make the origin take more than one movie.

LOL - I was talking generally. I’m really not that bothered about it (the post issue, I mean).
What really gets me is when you argue with someone and they don’t read your posts but continue to debate you anyway…but I ramble.

Yes - the war is said to build over three films, possibly more. The director, Rupert Wyatt explained his plans for the sequels in a recent interview. He said:

“There’s three thousand years of time to cover before you actually reach the original film in terms of shelf life and story. We could then go straight into what pockets of human resistance there are, fighting against what is essentially not that different from a coalition invasion of Iraq played out with apes, sort of like Full Metal Jacket - that kind of ground-based war”.

Sounds promising.

Lol…he isn’t comparing Iraqi’s with apes is he? =D I jest!

That actually sounds alright to be honest. If they can whip up a cohesive and consistent story it could awaken the excitement of older war movies. Instead of commies, it’s apes. A terrestrial terror to unit mankind against.

Ha! Well I hope he doesn’t get too overtly political with it. Although a Hurt Locker with artificially boosted primates is an interesting proposition…

Beyond that, if the quote I posted is anything to go by, the overall plan is to have the reboot dovetail with the original movie, so further evolution of the apes and a nuclear apocalypse is going to factor in somewhere. This franchise seems to be shaping up to be very episodic, with each movie taking on a specific theme and tone.

2003, bro? You’re a veteran.

I call shenanigans.

Can’t. Not for another week at least.

The virus is originally a re-engineered virus that boosts brain function and is helpful to humans as well as chimps. However, our immune systems develop antibodies that fight it off, resulting in a cure for Alzheimer’s that will only last five years.

In the course of the movie, a stronger strain is created, which is deadly to humans (or perhaps only to those with Alzheimer’s and detrimental to those without) but only further improves brain function in apes.

If I’m to pick between:

Captain America

or

The Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Which one do I go see this weekend?

In this scenario where I am now seeing both, which one would I walk into first?

If with nephews or your buddies, watch Captain America. And then go to the recruiting office.

If with a date or you want something that you can feel emotionally, Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

i really want to read the spoilers but i know i shouldn’t. Damn you Roybot!!!

Send the nephew to watch Captain America by himself while you and the girlfriend bond while watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

And then go for Captain America ice cream at Baskin Robbins.
