Awesome training too! Love the boot camp workout.
And yay for a comp! Can’t wait to hear about the preparation. I’m fascinated with figure comps.

It sounds like you’re going to do the same competition as me, the one in Ft. Lauderdale?
It’ll be great to see you there ![]()

12.10.2010 Legs/Glutes today! Wahoo!
Will be back with some details ![]()
12.10.2010
Burn baby burn
Legs are on fire!
First off - question to the ladies - do you have girlfriends/friends that are as committed as you are? Does it frustrate you when they back out of a training session etc? Or do you solely depend upon yourself?
I am more motivated than ever and I love it - but I have been on edge when people cancel on me last minute for lame excuses, etc. How do you feel? It actually helps my workout because it feeds my anger enough to take it out on my body and I am not an angry person AT ALL. Is it because I’m finally seeing how all of this can come together and I don’t want to stop anytime soon?
Read some more articles today and decided to get back on track nutrition-wise in addition to my workouts. Will need to hit up the grocery store tomorrow for some goodies.

to answer your question I have always trained alone in the past 5 years. No one to answer to or blame but myself.
On a different note a just joined a small “powerlifting” gym and there are usually no more than a dozen of us sharing the room, spotting, working in and such. NO ONE wears mp3players. I had to adjust to coming out of my bubble for these sessions.
I love both for very different reasons. Alone I keep the pace up, my concentration and focus is constant. In a group I need to follow the general flow but I learn more and exchange.
I walk alone in this fitness journey. No one to depend on, no one to rely on but my own character and drive.
Somedays once every couple months I have a friend I will go do something fitness related with but that is more for us to get together than anything else.
I’ve always lifted solo…I don’t have any gal pals that are into it neither…
I like training alone. I don’t have to answer to anyone and can get lost in my own little world. On the same token it could be kinda cool to lift with like minded people to further drive the enthusiasm!
Well done on the run - I’m happy if I can scrape in under 30 mins. 28 is excellent.
I’m also a solo lifter and runner. Being an only child makes me more inclined to do stuff solo anyway. I enjoy the gymnastics class I do, though - it’s fun training with other people on occassion.
I too train alone and generally prefer it that way. At the same time, I recognize that I could really benefit from the help of an expert/coach–not just for technical guidance, but for motivation as well. I tend to have high expectations for myself. But, I have also found that having someone with knowledge and expertise validate those expectations can go a long way in ensuring success when I am riddled with self doubt.
That’s awesome, I look forward to seeing you there.
What are you competing in? You say fitness figure, but I don’t understand.
And what class?
Did you get the Smith Machine kickbacks from PW or did you know about it from before? I will love to trace the origin of this lol

Myself and 3 of my clients are competing in Open Figure.
I’m 5’6" - so I’ll be in Class C. What about you?
The Smith machine kickbacks honestly, I was playing around the smith machine in my studio & I come up with some random types of exercises and figured I’d mock the “butt blaster” machine! I also do some plyo push ups off the smith machine bar - have tried it 1-handed it too. I get bored of the same old workouts, so anything to switch it up from time to time and I’m down!!! ![]()
Today I took the day off from the gym- and it felt great to rest my legs and arms!
Can’t wait to get back to it tomorrow though ![]()
I was thinking I should do teen (since I’ll still be 19 at the time). I was a bit unsure, but I think that that’ll be my best bet. Teen is like… novice Novice haha
Yeah, sadly my Gold’s gym doesn’t have the butt blaster machine, so I was happy that I found an alternative. My female clients love it… of course! What woman doesn’t want a high booty!? So that creativity (and the DOMS) appeals to them.

OH YEAH! Gosh… to be 19 again
I’m 25- but I’ll be 26 for the competition. We’re also thinking of doing Novice; we definitely have to figure it out
Honestly, I’m just pumped to do the first competition and learn all about it. I think experience will definitely help.
I <3 high booties & DOMS!
Have you looked at suits or practiced posing at all? Mentally - all I’m focused on at the moment is just muscle, muscle, muscle & getting my eating under control before I focus on anything else!
exciting stuff!!
I just love this journal… as someone said upthread its all the awesome positive energy!
You bring alot to the table your clients are lucky to have you.
Dude, I wish I could go to that show to cheer for you and Nikki how cool you will get to meet in person.

Thanks sweetie… believe me, I have my absolutely crappy days and I just wanna come in here and be like “Yes, today - it fk’n sucked” … but I also know that I use this for my own source of motivation so I try to keep it positive & fresh! ![]()
Ohmigosh - when I found out Nikki is doing the same one, I was like “HELL YEAH” because like I had asked the question earlier, not many friends of mine like working out at all. My clients do, but it’s still difficult for me to manage that friend/client situation. My boyfriend constantly supports me, as does my family - but it would be nice every now and then to have a friend who was like “Bekah, get your a$$ up, let’s get in another workout today”… but at the end of the day, it’s all me… so if I fail - I know who to blame ![]()
Thank you girl for stopping in, xo
Good day so far! CHILLY day in Florida [48 degree, but crazy winds, so feel like temperature is like 35 deg or something ridiculous]. Tons of people use it as excuses to stay inside… I think it’s perfect for working out!!! When the weather is gorgeous, I’d love to lay out and just sulk in the sun - which makes it harder for me to find motivation in the gym. I’ve never been one for laying around, watching movies and eating chocolate! I do not like chocolate at all…
My vice is starchy carbs like tortilla chips & salsa. I could kill a bag if I REALLY wanted to.
So I just stay away from it altogether- unless I order it as an appetizer with my boyfriend on a dinner date, which is actually pretty rare! He enjoys cooking & asks me for the “order” - SUHWEET. Scored big on that one. Yes honey, I’d love some tilapia with light seasoning and a plate full of veggies on the side! Or - even better, loves to make me sweet potatoes cooked any way I’d like

My running partner will soon be returned to me… [picture attached] - that’s my GSD [german shepherd dog] named Coletta. She’s bada$$ - she speaks Czech and worked with the Detroit Police Dpt. with the narcotic unit until she was released at age 2 because she couldn’t sniff out a particular drug. My parent’s best friends breed GSDs & when I opened my studio, my parents got a little nervous since I have Boot Camps as early as 5:30am and as late as 9:00pm, and I was by myself. So they got me Miss Coletta. Under one condition I could have her to myself - and that was to have her breed 1 more time… so on Nov 20- she popped out 9 puppies. She’s extremely obedient, and very spoiled
Besides Coletta, I have two other dogs too, they are mutts & more of the couch-type!
