RIP Ozzy Osbourne

Just saw the news. Holy cow: that’s the end of an era right there.

Law of the Claw… Long live Ozzy

Mamma I’m coming home.

This one stings… grew up on him. Absolutely love Sabbath.

What a phenominal performer.

My wife was comparing age/performances of guys like Ren & 21 pilots one night.

I put this on and said “heres my point of reference…”

Not bad for a 22 year old.

Was fortunate enough to have seen Sabbath and solo Ozzy.

Me too. Literally, grew up with it playing in the house when I was a little kid.

I’d run around singing the guitar of Iron Man like the old Bat Man television series theme song. “NA NA, NA NA, NA NA, NA NA- DA DA DAH!”.

Long before we were even aware of each other, I met my wife at Ozzfest.

Two younger scaredish looking girls in jeans shorts and bikini tops were standing tight behind me & my buddy & his wife and son. I noticed the bikinis!

Skip ahead to 2004, I’m in her apartment and see a picture of the 2 girls in bikini tops. So I asked her "Was that Ozzfest, 98? She goes “Yeah, how did you know?”

I tell her “You & your sister were standing right behind us the whole show!”.

Edit: freudian slip, meant right instead of tight, but I’m leaving it.

Black Sabbath was our preferred soundtrack for Magic: The Gathering card nights in the early '90’s.

That’s great… lifelong memory

Since the Sabbath thread earlier this year I’ve been listening my way through their albums and deep cuts.

Then I spent all day a couple weekends ago watching uploads from “Back to the Beginning.”

I feel like I got down with Sabbath just in the knick of time!

Its really cool that Ozzy was able to make it to that last performance.

Make a joke and I will sigh
And you will laugh and I will cry
Happiness, I cannot feel
And love, to me, is so unreal

And so, as you hear these words
Telling you now of my state
I tell you to enjoy life
I wish I could, but it’s too late

Ozzy wrote a book containing his “Ask Dr. Ozzy” advice columns. The advice is amazingly good; he had at least three lifetimes worth of lived experience…

I thought so too, but it’s probably some Godly witness protection thing - Sharon’s never get to him there now. Besides, Lemmy was never a stickler for the rules.
