Ever try D/L without shoes? I have on heavier weights and really notice a difference in pushing with my heels.
Scott I often DL without shoes, don’t really notice a difference between barefoot and Chucks.

First off I really enjoyed pulling with the Nike’s on, felt like I was able to get down over the bar easier and pull through my heals better, not to mention stability was solid.
That said this session sucked, frustrated and called it after the miss. Deads have started to really go backward so I’m going to put them to rest for a bit and switch to rackpulls or something else for a few weeks.
This is it, the week of the Warrior dash, thank God. Going to squat on Monday and then not lift the rest of the week, just conditioning. Going to loosen up the diet to allow for more carbs, nothing crazy say 200-300g’s a day in preparation for the run.
Got in a few miles this morning, it was muggy as hell which makes it hard for me to breath. The long range forecast calls for 83* and a chance of rain next Saturday (race day), hopefully they’ll be right.
Good luck brother, expect some picts on the +1.
Good luck, Dday.
Looks like you have a couple of lifting partners…they looked focused!!!
The third vid looked great to me, the first it seems as if your shoulders were over the bar a bit, and in the second it seems as your hips were shooting up a bit, 2 problems I also struggle with. I am more of a puller with my back and always struggle with sitting back and can’t get my body to fire correctly when I concentrate on sitting back so IMO I believe it is a matter of preference…however when my shoulders go to far in front of the bar…im fucked.
OG- changed your avy, good looking pups. Mine like to be in the basement with me.
Matty- You’re absolutely right, hadn’t watched the videos before. Still going to take some time off of pulling, maybe do some rack pulls.

Decided to test out my shoulder a little, it’s been feeling pretty good. Started with super light smith inclines worked up to about 100lbs. Felt pretty good, had to force myself to not just throw the weight up, as long as I stayed slow and steady it didn’t hurt. Didn’t go up or try to over do it, pretty much the same with everything else light weights.
The weird pull up thing explained. While sitting on the ground I had a bar arms length above my head and pulled myself to my feet. Discovered this didn’t bother my shoulders like a regular pull up even an assisted PU.
Ran this morning, still hate it. There was a brief moment at the beginning of this training where I started to like it but it was short lived. Really just want to get this damn race over.
Decided to lower my calories down to around 2k and see what happens. DST turned me on to myfitnesspal.com and mobile ap, so far it’s much better than fitday. The program recommends me eat 1990 calories per day to lose 1.5lbs a week, I’m good with that for now, hopefully can reach that 200lb make soon. Been sitting between 229-231lbs recently.
What makes the myfitnesspal better just out of curiosity?
Looks like you could get a little more arch in your low back before your pull, get your shoulders locked back a bit, just a thought.
German- Myfitnesspal seems to be a bit more robust than fitday. There seems to be more food in the database than fitday also. The biggest thing is ap, that’s really important to me since I’m rarely at my desk these days.
Will work on arch, and shoulders back. It’s hard for me to stay in that position and reach the bar, about an inch short, probably means I need to drop my butt down more? Thank you.
Why are you taking a break from deadlifts again? must have missed that bit!
Looking good in here dday. Loved your dogs watching.
^Well for the last few months my deads have gone backward. It was suggested to take some time off and focus on other back exercises so I figured I’d give it a try. A while back I was doing nothing but rack pulls from the mid shins and that really helped so that’s what I’ll do for a bit then switch back.
I finally logged back in here after a couple weeks away to find SIX PAGES of stuff to read. Sorry, man, I love you but I can’t do it. You’re clearly awesomely popular.
You deadlift with a slightly rounded back. But amazingly, it stays rock solid for the entire lift. So I guess I can’t criticize.
Or maybe I can. Your belt is SO “last year”.
I’m not mad at ya CK, some of the threads fill up fast. Haven’t had a chance to keep up with everyones log either lately.
What’s this years hot belt? Must stay trendy.
Thanks for stopping in.

That pink belt is guaranteed to add 50 lbs to your deadlift simply because you have to pull heavier while wearing that.
