Right Foot, Left Foot

Y’all are crazy! Guess I might look like a taller albino Ice Cube, just need a cigar a 64’ Impalla.

Matty- Either over did the MP’s or slept wrong but my shoulder was KILLING me the last few days. Plan on not doing anything to bother it this week, not even going to do light work, tired of effing around with it, it’s gone on to long as is.

This weekend had a “refeed” day Saturday, eat everything that wasn’t nailed down, then Sunday walked for what seemed like hours. No lifting, life got in the way, corrected that this morning.

What do you do when crazy wind, heavy rains and lightening fires up right before leaving for a morning run…SQUAT!

Foam rolled
lots of mobility stuff

Squat
135x5
135x5
135x5
185x3
185x3
225x3
225x3
225x3
245x3
245x3
245x3
275x3
275x2

That was all I had time for. Since I’d planned to run this morning and the weather didn’t cooperate there was only 40 minutes before time to get ready for work. Could have hit the treadmill but that sucks, good for winter but not as good as squats.

The last rep of 275 was a miss/quarter squat for 3, wasn’t an out of gas thing, could have gotten it easy however I cannot explain what exactly happened. Started down and best guess is the bar shifted or something but almost fell, racked it and called it a day.

Edit: sorry for the lack of videos lately, flip camera shot craps, regular camera takes suck video and cell phone is a pain.

God, that’s a lot of squatting. It’d take me an hour to do half that. Are you bionic or something?

Nice looking squat workout.

Take it easy coming back with the shoulder. Don’t try to do too much too soon. They’re funny things, they can trick you into thinking that think they’re all healed up and then kick you in the balls and remind you that they aren’t. Mine did it to me last week.

Cav- I wish I was bionic, 1000lb squat nanananananana. It took some doing, especially at 6am. Haven’t really lifted that early in sometime.

Brett- I’m certainly learning all about shoulders and their fickle ways. Bastards, they are.

Haven’t had a chance to push the prowler lately, it’s either been hot as balls, raining or we’ve had things to do but last night, last night was perfect!
Mentioned to my wife how I was going to push the prowler;

she says “well what about mowing the yard?”
Me: It can wait.
Her: hmmm (the look)

The yard sure looks nice.

The rest of the week we get actual temps of 100* not just heat indexes, so no prowler.

This morning kicked up the cardio a bit.

1 mile walk
1/2 mile sprint @85-90%
1/2 mile jog
1/2 mile walk
4 100 yrd sprints

DONE!

Saturday weight before refeed 231.0
TOdays weight 231.4

Been at 231 before but haven’t been able to crack it and maintain, CHALLANGE ACCEPTED!

EDIT:^ I was 214 at my lightest and did maintain that. Then tried to gain some muscle, “bulked” to mid 240’s. Since then I haven’t gotten below 231.

^ Hahahahahahahahaha I get that same look, that is the wife’s CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

6am lifting, yikes, good stuff bro.

Pretty sure every wife has that look. My wife calls it her rat face, it’s very effective.

Yea, I’m not a fan. When I was a serious fatty I’d get up and “workout” at 4am because it was the only way it would get done. Now that I enjoy training and hate to miss time in the gym so after work is way better.

Its too freaking hot here, at least in the morning I can run etc.

^I hear ya, once it gets to the mid 90’s and 50+% humidity going out to the car is a miserable experience. I see guys out working on nice days and kind of wish I was outside doing their job, that thought changes around June.

Y’all gonna get some of that hurricane rain that’s supposed to head into Texas?

Shit Dday didnt even know there was one out there, show how much I pay attention to things. Maybe we need a weather sticky in the over 35

Yea and I sent you a PM

Just saw it on the news this morning, it’s brewing out in the gulf and trying to head north.

I looked it up, I am in Houston so I am safe, and probably not going to get much rain.

And now for you bi-weekly dumb ass report…this just in: dday overestimates working capacity.

Warm up:

Writing it out in long form seems like so much more than it does in my log book.
Anyway, yea so there was supposed to be 3x3 of 365 but there was not chance in hell that was happening, the last rep/set of 365 might as well been 600.
Pretty much dumping all assistance work for now until my shoulder heals up, just rotating squat and deads every other day with lots of volume.

Tune in next time to read, Kansas City man found squashed by barbell after 26th set of squats.

Omigod. And I thought my squat routine was tough.

After 26 sets, you can be squashed by a fly landing on your shoulder.

^not really going to do 26 sets, well I don’t plan to but you never know.

that’s a fukton of volume. I am too lazy to read, what program are you running?

Had been doing 5/3/1 for around 1.5-2 years. I started to switch to a program that James (atypical1) is doing that is sets 3, kind of what I’m doing. A few weeks ago I strained my AC joint, since there are very few exercises that don’t bother it, figured why not do what I can a whole bunch of times.

Basically I’m going to rotate squats and deadlifts every other day until the wing heals up completely. It had started to fell pretty good last week so I pushed it a little which caused 3 days of pain.

Am I to far off base?

Thanks for stopping by, your advice is appreciated.

If you are going to squat or deadlift every other day I might back down on volume a little. And maybe do something more like Squat Monday, Deadlift Wednesday, Squat Monday. Repeat (never pull twice in a week). Also look at variations and assistance stuff you can do, front squats, gms, etc.
