I agree on the box. I was squatting to a bench and it was an inch or two high but close.
James- Not getting depth on most of them, maybe one or two tonight was acceptable. The last set of 15 was just a super light set trying to stretch myself out in effort to get lower.
The weights listed are backed way back to work on depth.
Dday did you read the article yesterday with Wendler?
My .02 both of us are right now trying to accomplish the same thing, BF lost and increased cardiovascular health. As Jim says we cant do both that and increase strength at the same time. The weights are not going anywhere this is not a race.
So my advice on the Squat, switch to front squat, and work on form. Work on doing ass to grass front squats, then slowly work back into back squat again with lower weight and work on ass to grass. You will be surprised how quick you jump up also watch the videos of squating I linked in Matty’s log. Again man just my advice, dont want to see you burn out or get an injury that puts you out.
I have been having my issues with depth as well so I really cut back on the weights and concentrated on form and depth which unfortunatelty has led to other issues, but its also why this lifting thing intrigues me so much theres always something to tweak to improve and always somebody who has a new idea…keep hammerin away bro youll get it.

I read the Wendler article, guys a freaking guru.
I’m not real concerned about how much I squat right now, just squatting right. I’ve always had a problem with depth, even on light weight, my 135 depth and my 265 depth are the same. Some weird imbalance or lack of mobility somewhere. I have heard that front squat can help, I have done them just not much so I will take your advice and practice. Thanks.

Can you do full squat with just BW? Or is it only when you put a bar on your back?

Neither, I can actually go deeper with more weight. For instance, with just the bar I’m all off balance and almost fall over backward, put 135 on and I’m solid, still can only get about 1" above 90*.
I cannot sit like the girl in the picture at all, if I get close I fall backward. To crouch down I have to get on my toes. This has to be a flexability issue, just not sure where. I’ve been squatting wide stance to see if that helps but after reviewing videos it hasn’t really done much.
It comes down to time and practice really. My mobility sucks and it’s something that I’m always going to have to work on but it’s come a long way from when I started. There’s a flood of info out there. I would pick one article that you can really get behind and do the stretches and tips listed in it continually until your mobility improves.
James- I’ve see the 1st and 3rd article before but the 2nd I hadn’t. That’s a really great article, it really clears up a lot of questions and explains things so well. Thank you for sharing that. After reading it I’m thinking that my right ankle has a mobility issue and my right hip is weak. Time to do more work.

Pretty good day all in all, kind of disappointed with the bench. Rep 6 I caught the peg which threw me off, managed to squeezed out 3 more sketchy reps, the pisser is the weight felt super light. In my mind I had 12-13 in me.
Gonna be busy with work for a bit, just found out that I have to assign new IP addresses to every cable box in the Kansas City Metro area, I don’t have a number yet but I’m thinking a few hundred thousand, good times.

Don’t feel bad, I’m still fighting to get my bench to that level.

It could totally be worse, I did find out that it’s not as big of a deal as I’d thought. I just need to assign of block of IP’s to each area around the city and another box will do the work. For a minute I thought I’d have to access each one of them and change the address by hand, that’d been a nightmare.
FTR yesterday I was 235.8 again. A bit of good news, I have this pair of jeans that I don’t wear much because they’re too tight, put them on and they fit perfectly. Scale isn’t moving but my clothes indicate progress.
No lifting yesterday, scheduled off day. Tonight- deadlift.
