Meat do you ever suffer elbow problems? Lately, on my DE bench day my elbows have been hurting so bad that I have to stop my lift. My ME Bench day they never hurt and I’ve been setting PR’s the last few weeks on my pressing yet whenever I do DE Bench the last few weeks they have been killing me. I’ve been running bands 3 weeks than chain 3 weeks. This is my first time running chains.

how are you doing you dynamic bench work??
this is how i do my speed work against bands. i control the eccentric and explode the concentric. if you are going fast with both, that puts a lot of undue stress on the elbow. always explode on the concentric and control on the eccentric it will save the joints.

I’m pretty controlled on the eccentric, though I realize I could probably be more controlled, and as explosive as possible on the concentric.
Currently doing 50% straight weight + 50 lbs of chain weight 9x3 for 3 weeks which is 155+50 lbs chain. I do 3 sets of close grip (first 3 sets), then move to 3 sets of index finger on the smooth/rough joining, then 3 sets of competition grip width (pinkies on rings). Unfortunately I don’t have any video of DE bench days.

speed work is one of those things that i think you should do when you feel your bar speed slowing. i wouldn’t do it just for the sake of doing it. if you are doing it all the time i can see how it would irritate your joints. maybe think about dropping it until you notice you slowing down and then rotate it back in for a few weeks.
Alright, thanks for the input. Would you recommend switching to say more Repetition Effort on my normal DE day? Or simply drop out my DE movement for that day?

i would drop them all together and add more RE work after your ME stuff.
i don’t know if you follow my log or not but i usually do some sort of warmup such as foam presses and then move to working up to heavy singles on ME stuff. then i drop back and usually do around 3 sets of higher rep stuff on a bench variation followed up with tricep work. works pretty good for me.
I do follow it but guess I hadn’t noticed that. I’ll have to read back through and pay closer attention to things, it’s definitely been a wealth of knowledge. Thanks again for all your help.

i’ll open on bench somewhere between 455-470 and dead will be 600. this will be my first competition conventional pull so i’m go’n conservative on my opener.
