You have just walked into a dark two-story house. There are three light switches on the first floor A, B and C. Only one of the switches works, and it turns on the light on the second floor.
You cannot see the second floor light from the first floor and there are no windows in the building, but you do have a flashlight.
You can only make one trip up the stairs, and you can only flip one switch at a time. How do you determine which of the three switches turns on the light on the second floor ?
A fellow’s morning commute to work involves going up a long, steep hill, on which he always has to downshift into third gear to get up. Every evening on his way home, he finds himself riding his brakes down the hill, even if he’s downshifted to second (or even first) gear. How can this be?

Turn on switch A, wait two minutes, then turn it off. Turn on switch B, then go upstairs. If the lights is hot, but not on, then switch A was the right switch. If the light’s on, then it’s switch B. If the light is neither hot nor on, then it’s switch C.

No, no, no. I said a “fellow’s commute,” not a “lady’s commute.” What kind of guy drives with one foot on the brake and the other on the gas. Only women do that.
suppose a man travelled back in time and killed his biological grandfather before the latter met the traveler’s grandmother. As a result, one of the traveler’s parents (and by extension the traveller himself) would never have been conceived. This would imply that he could not have travelled back in time after all, which in turn implies the grandfather would still be alive, and the traveller would have been conceived allowing him to travel back in time and kill his grandfather.
