This looks pretty intresting, I’ll make sure to DVR it. Rickson and Dean Lister seem to be the most well known MMA guys participating, Melcor is a moderately famous Muay Thai guy with time on the K-1 mat. The other names I don’t recognize, but this should be an interesting show.
“Participating on screen are (in alphabetical order) tae kwon do master Bren Foster; undefeated jiu jitsu champion Rickson Gracie; karate expert Mark Hicks; three-time national wushu gold medalist Alex Huynh; Dan Inosanto, one of the world?s leading authorities in jeet kune do; Li Jing, famed practitioner of Chinese wushu; fight trainer, choreographer, leading stuntman and ninjitsu expert Glen Levy; Dean Lister, the ?world?s greatest grappler?; Melchor Menor, muay Thai kickboxing expert; Obata Toshishiro, member of an elite group of martial artists and a descendant in the samurai line of the Heike clan; undefeated professional boxer Steve Petramale; Craig and Paul Pumphrey, master demonstrators of breaking techniques and other outrageous feats of strength; and Amir Solsky, founder and leader of Capoeira Los Angeles.”
. . . who? Oh, this - Mark Hicks - IMDb - I think. From what I’ve read on him, not exactly “karate,” but tournament karate. An unfortunately related . . . thing.
Looking forward to Rickson Gracie and Amir Solsky.
It looks they are going to cover such myths as the “Death Punch” and scientifically analyze “one-inch punches” and compare that crap to pro-boxers, muay thai, wrestling, etc. It will entertaining to hear them explain that their “chi” wasn’t working that day.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Almost like listening to the traditional karate die hards try to explain away why all their boys lost in the early UFC’s because they were just not aloud to use eye gouges…

You didn’t recognise Dan Inosanto? He was one of Bruce Lee’s main/most important students. I thought he’d be a bit too old to be cavorting around in cables
I saw somthing similar several years ago on the Discovery channel. In that show, the graphics were nice, but the show was sooooo bad. It perpetuated myths even further. This new show will probably be somewhat better, but these show producers just don’t get it. You can tell they don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about when they mention Kung-Fu or Wu Shu as some sort of style.
And of course the author of the article don’t mention boxing or wrestling as if these don’t qualify as martial arts - oh yeah, they don’t because these styles don’t throw chi balls. In fact, I’m sick of people mentioning styles, people in general are so attached to the name of style they practice like people are so attached to the name of the “hood” they are from. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what you can do.
LMAO, awesome, there’s another one listed beside that called Son of Afro Ninja, just as funny. It’s the exact same voice saying, “stay down” so I don’t know what’s up with that.
