It sure does wind up on the internet. Google “Jose Raymond up close and personal” or “Kai Greene diet scandal” for some examples of unpleasant gossip. I’m not sure what other sites you peruse but there is a ton of information out there, some divulged by the subjects of unsavory behavior themselves all over the net.

Dude, you’re not big enough until someone propositions you for “posing” in the locker room.

LOL

Yes.

Admiration from both sexes means you are the epitome of being.

Just heard about the Ron Noreman controversy. Interesting stuff but this Ron Noreman guy sounds much more interesting himself; CPA, partner in an accounting firm, holistic nutrition guru/coach, adviser to nutrition companies and exercise equipment manufacturers and owner of his own nutrition company. How does this guy find the time to actually train and compete, which he still does!

Ron Noreman is my new idol in this little bodybuilding thing.

From Ron Noreman regarding the Kai controversy:

Ron Noreman is my uncle’s childhood friend. He’s a very smart guy and ALWAYS went into shows totally peeled and is an example of how one can be competitive and have a career and family.

Here’s a pic of me with Ron.

Nice shirt

Ehh that still sounds crappy, all he does is just Work/BB/Family. I mean I’d like to have some meeee time as well.

I’ve actually known a considerable amount of NY area National level competitors, and a handful of IFBB pros who regularly engage in some ‘questionable’ behaviors to support themselves. Very often, they have girlfriends or even wives who have real jobs, and are quite aware of what their man’s "work’ entails.

While I won’t judge anyone else’s life choices, I recall an old buddy of mine back in the late 90’s, practically living out of his car (when not in his windowless underground bunker of an apartment), driving from gym to gym, staying in the parking lot for a few hours at a time, and conducting ‘business’. When he wasn’t doing that, he was being flown around the country for “personal training” and “video” work.

S

I realize I’ll catch some heat for this, since nobody asked and it’s beside the point, but doesn’t anybody else think he’s just kind of a blurry blob?
I mean, he seems like a good guy. And he’s not a competitor and and he’s fucking huge and yada yada, but his arm is just one, thick entity.
I’m not trying to shit on the guy at all, it just doesn’t look aesthetic at all. I’m sure it’s partially the tats as well but he has like no definition other than his abs and upper back. And yeh, again this is beside the point and has nothing to do with the thread at all, but it just seems weird nobody has mentioned it yet.

The guy is a real type A personality. Very driven and disciplined.

No heat here.

Your post actually is in line with my original post. He never reached the upper echelon in bodybuilding and he is aware of his limitations but yet he managed to design his life so that he can lead the lifestyle he wants and make money in the fitness industry, similar to what Ron Harris, Dante, CT, Trevor Smith, John Roman, Dave Palumbo, and some others have done.

You’re right though: he doesn’t have aesthetics and his arms are… eh… I don’t even know what’s going on with them. I’ve read he has PMMA in his arms. It also appears he’s done some other cosmetic alterations to himself, for which he gets a lot of crap. It’s all fine by me though; as I said, he seems like a sincere and generous guy and his work is pretty inspirational.

Well Rich definitely has something in those arms all right. Just look at them, they look unnatrual. I bet if you compare some before contest picks when he was younger to his more recent contest picks you’d see a dispropotionate change in his arms compared to other body parts.

Just read up on this enigmatic PMMA stuff. Apparently, it’s a “thing” used in cosmetic surgery to enchance soft tissue. Its intended use is for repairing skin damage from HIV treatment. It’s available as a trademarked procedure in the US but not in quantities to enhance limbs. You need to go to a specialist in Mexico to get it done and rumour has it (according to another bodybuilder) that Rich is the first bodybuilder to use PMMA. It sounds expensive so if one bodybuilder could afford it, it’d be Rich. I mean if you want to speculate it’s basically an alignment of factors that points to him using it: can afford it, has unnatural looking arms, and doesn’t compete, at least at a high level.

How ethical is Mutant to use this guy as a marketing figure head for their supplements, in light of his cosmetically tempered physique? It might be a different situation to other supplement firms who use pro bodybuilders where the main exogenous factors outside of the supplements that contribute to their physiques are steroids and genetics.

What is PMMA?

There’s no difference in the ethical standards. Steroids and genetics make all the difference in the world. The bottom line is that Super Mass Gainz Explodzer 2000 contributed very little to the physique of the bodybuilder being used to market the product.

Ethics in this industry left the room a looooooong time ago.
