Is Ribose stable in water? I know L-Glutamine is not stable for very long in water. I was thinking of putting my whey protein and Ribose in some water in my drink bottle to take to school with me. Will this be okay?
Ribose should be taken before WO as benefit is in helping recover ATP DURING intense exercise. Ribose taken at other times probably will be a waste of the ribose. Ribose can be taken subligually (absorbed in the mouth under the tongue) during your WO and that works well.
But can ribose remain in a stable state in water?

I’m not sure about the stability of ribose. I know that is a concern with creatine but only if left in solution for more than a day supposedly. If in doubt, put the ribose in a small pill bottle and dump it in the drink when ready to consume at your WO time. Or better yet, leave all the ingrediants dry until ready to drink and then add water and shake at that time. By the way, are you sure you want to drink whey before your WO. I assume this is a pre WO drink because the only advantage of ribose is to take immediantly before WO and it helps recover ATP DURING your WO. Ribose taken after WO or any other time is a waste.
Heb, I recall reading from a Behind the Scenes article on this site that Ribose should be taken before and after workouts as well as before bedtime on off-days. You say that it should only be taken before workouts, are there any articles that state this? I always thought that Ribose was like Creatine, that it had to be constantly maintained in the body to produce any kind of effect.
Does anyone know why Biotest stopped making Ribose C??
I’m not sure of the details, but there
was a financial consultant who reviewed
the entire product line taking into account all costs of doing business (not just raw materials costs.) There were some products (Nandrosol
was one) that were money-losers. The more Biotest sold, the more it lost on those. I guess that
Ribose-C may have been one of these.
Unfortunate, because it was one of my favorites. It very noticeably improved my performance in later sets.
