So it’s been a few days… I’ve caught up on some sleep, I went to the beach and got far far too much sun (ie. my ass/thighs are bright red), and finally got back into the gym today.
First off: Ow. I thought I’d get rid of the horrible tan lines I’ve developed all summer from playing in vball tourneys (ie. shorts & sports bra) to make it look like I’ve actually worn a bathing suit once or twice. Well, yesterday was a scorcher and I’m paying for it today. It could be worse, and most of me has (or will) just turn into a tan, so I’m hoping for no peeling.
Went to the gym today, slightly tired and hungover. Was training with two guys who couldn’t be on time if their lives depended on it, so I ended up running on the treadmill for 30 min. I did 3.5 miles in this time, which is really good for me considering that’s faster than my training runs were before my half-marathon for the same distance and I’ve only run 3/4 times since then (May).
Anyways, the boys decided to show up finally and we did some back and chest. I decided to have a ‘fun’ training session and follow their lead and for them it was just an extra day they were throwing in, so we just sort of did what we felt like doing.
Did 3 sets of:
A1. Close grip pulldowns (12 reps)
A2. Assissted pull ups (6 reps)
B. Row… where the bar is in a coner, you straddle it and you use the v-handle to row (10 reps)
C. Shoulder Press - using the same bar and same corner. (8-10 reps)
D. Bench Press (8-12 reps)
The shoulder presses were kind of entertaining because I didn’t feel horribly comfortable with the movement and wasn’t sure how strong my shoulders were going to be, so one of the guys spotted me. There’s a little bit of a push press to it (or as I call it, a thrusting motion) and with the guy standing right behind me, well, my ass was going into his crotch. We laughed about it after. And did the same for the next 2 sets as well haha.
I still haven’t gotten in my second leg day that should have been Thursday, but I’m doing it tomorrow instead of quad-dom. I’m trying to figure out my schedule for the week training-wise because I’m playing in a 2’s volleyball tournament on Saturday and want my legs to feel good for it. Thinking Hamstring/Hip Dom tomorrow, vertical Tues, Quad Dom Wed. Taking Thursday off for a work dinner/party and Friday to go to the Blue Jays game (plus to be fresh for Saturday). We shall see.
